Juan(Hu-wan) for all, all for Juan. All for one, one for all.
"Bayanihan."
"Bayanihan" is an old tradition of neighbors helping a relocating family by getting enough volunteers to carry the whole house, and literally moving it to its new location.
The tradition also means of communal unity and cooperation.
With what had happened in some parts of Texas, I have seen the spirit of "Bayanihan".
Neighbors helping their neighbors, strangers reaching out, lending a hand; there is so much unity.
In times of things like that, we sense of humans being more human--selfless, helpful, sincere and having a kind heart. That despite of the cruelty others may bring, some remain to keep their hearts and it is giving us hope.
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” --Mahatma Gandhi

Apart from psychos(those with no guilt or conscience), everyone has a conscience and when disaster strikes, compassion kicks in..it is human nature.

Wise words my friend and sometimes cynical people like me need to be reminded of such things. Thanks.

During times of disaster we witness bayanihan. We thought people are all selfish and self centered but when calamities come we people have good hearts and are kind to others

I am glad that most people are able to become heroes during disasters. I think there is that "hero switch" in most humans that would help when possible.

@Lucky15 This reminds me of the farming community, where both my parents grew up. If something happened to another family in this little village, all the other farmers would ban together and help them. When their was a birth, the women would take care of that woman's family, until she was able to do this herself. If someone's barn burned, the entire community would rush in, to build this family a new barn. Thus, everyone was well cared for!

Those are very beautiful words by Ghandi, thank you for sharing. Humans indeed have both good and bad side, and it's great to see that during calamities like this, the goodness of a human's heart can be seen and working together to help one another is still not forgotten.

@Lucky15 Humans are far from perfect and all of us have our own dark side, but these situations really make you see that people really have a great capacity to care for one another, only if we can do it everyday.
