Are you a back door or front door visitor?

Since we're a global lot on myLot, I got to wondering about some of the different customs among us.
Here in the southern US, a lot of people use the back door when they come to visit. "Come to visit" ??? Does anyone even "visit" anymore? Guess I'll save that for another discussion.
Anyway, maybe it's just more informal to come to the back door. I think it came from long ago when people had a formal front room/parlor/living room that was only used when important company paid a visit. And they always came to the front door.
Now a lot of homes have a great room or just one room they use for all visitors. We actually live in our living room. When someone knocks on the front door, we run to hide the beer bottles (just kidding!), but it does flash through my mind, "Why didn't I dust yesterday?"
So, my question is, in your country or state, are you a back door or front door visitor?

@1creekgirl I know some houses where only visiting clergy ever use the front door. Even my brother's house in France has a door that has always only been used for that purpose and it is known as the Bishop's Door. A bit strange since the family is totally non-religious and no clergy ever call.

So they really don't need a Bishop's Door, huh? That's funny.

In this dang apartment, there is only one door, the front door which I can never get used to Vicki having only one door.
I know what you mean..we observed that in our house at home (when I was a kid I mean)..so we knew if the front door knocked it was important.

Ours is too. We even have a brick walk way from the drive way to the front porch, but people still walk around to the back!

@1creekgirl That's funny. At our house in Summerfield people always came to the back door. Here in Inverness they come to the front;.

Maybe in town, it's more convenient to come in the front door.

I guess it makes sense there that most use the front door.

My house is set up for front door entry and the only other choice is to come through the garage. Back when I was a kid everyone came to the back door unless it was special company.

When I grew up in Missouri as a teen, we always used the back door. However, as an adult in California, I started using the front door. I guess habits are different in different areas!

This post reminded me of our time living in Ireland. I was wondering why the visitors or our neighbours knocked on our back door and not the front door. The Irish were accustomed to their back doors for family and friends but used the front door for an "official visitors".

That's cool you have three doors! Do your visitors use one particular door the most?

@1creekgirl with our last house, it was a fun time trying to answer doors. If we run to the side, the visitors might already walk to the back or front etc. (or vice versa). There were times when the kids and I were still running around and around tried figuring out which door we should open, when we saw the visitor's face thru the French window at the back. Keep everyone fit that way .

@1creekgirl Many houses do not even have a backdoor here. We have one, because we asked to add one to go directly to the vegetable garden.
