AGE APPROPRIATE?

Suppose this grandmother is in her late sixties early seventies - but has the figure of a thirty-five year old and the face of someone in her forties - would it still be necessary for her to dress - age appropriately? Only her family members know her true age - so in my opinion ,if she feels like dressing young then she should.
What do you think?

She should dress as she feels and not bend to what society dictates what she should wear.

I think I will become one of these grandmas ! I am in my late 40s . . . and I'd say I'm one of the older moms at school. I don't "try" to dress young . . . I just happen to like certain styles of clothing . . . and well, some of it happens to be "young" like. I can still wear shorts, mini skirts, dresses, and anything really. Some of the parents might whisper things, but I don't care. I wear what I want to wear !

If she feels good about herself, then she should dress the way she wants.

I think she could dress somewhere in the middle. I don't think it's proper for an older person to wear short-shorts, or short skirts/dresses or show half of what they have in front no matter how they look. I doubt that my kids would stick to my ideas though. A lot would depend on if she works and where and what attire is appropriate for the places she frequents.
If she dresses younger than she really is she risks some guy abusing her freedom and she may not be able to take care of herself if forced into an untoward situation.
I wouldn't dress that way, but then again I never really did even when I was younger.
I'm not saying she should wear what we consider 'granny clothes' either as I'm hopeful to steer clear of those myself.

@Kandae11 The newscaster may have a dress code she has to abide by or she wants to be taken seriously or move up in the business and thinks the clothes she wears may impact that with her bosses, which for some it probably does. A lot depends on what type of career each person may work in.

Yes it all depends on the situation and the way you feel about yourself. like there is a newscaster on our local television - probably in her late twenties, but she dresses like a very conservative fifty year-old. The important thing is what you feel comfortable wearing. As a teenager I never wore shorts or jeans - only skirts and dresses.

@MarshaMusselman The thing is her co -newscaster who appears with her in the evening slot , was there a number of years before her. She is much older -about twice her age and dresses younger.

Young or older, I would prefer a more modest dress unless she is going to the beach.

@Kandae11 I do not find any reason to find fault with her dress. She is having a good figure. She is quite confident and wants to give some show-off. Even for this, one should need a good brain activity as to how to dress and how to give some teasing postures.

If she looks well in it and comfortable, why not?

If people could be happy and their ways of achieving that don't offend anyone, why not? I am all for it. (I will dress up like that too if I have that sort of figure & clothes/shoes, I love that pose, but in my case, if I did that, I think I would fall over for sure! (I have weak chicken legs! )

If I still looked that good, I'd be wearing a mini skirt, tube top and high heels @Kandae11 .

That's a tough one.
Out of one side of my face I will say that people should wear what makes them happy - no matter if it's too "young" too "old", too "skimpy" , doesn't fit well, etc...
Though there is such a thing as being appropriate. Sometimes it's not respectful to dress a certain way for some situations. And sometimes there is such a thing as what looks best on the person - no mind if they like it or not.
There are some older people who dress young who look great and daring I think.
Then there are some older people who dress young who just look desperate and sad.
I don 't know what the difference is.
I think that the grandmother in question should wear what makes her feel best... but trying to keep an eye on if it enhances her beauty, or cheapens it.

Why not! I think anyone, in any age should dress as to what makes them feel good and beautiful about themselves. It's also up to the person if she'll let what society dictates affect the way she dresses.
