Ought to be, as they are stories about Mandrake the Magician. Loved reading these comics together with Phantom, Flash Gordon, Modesty Blaise and other news paper comic strips when we were kids. The whole comics were not readily available and anyway too expensive for us.Most of us would cut out the strips and paste it in scrap books. I remember the frantic search to fill up the gaps if there was one in our homemade editions. With the world becoming a global village as far as shopping is concerned , my hubby recently purchased some of the bounded editions of these newspaper dailies. As I immerse myself in them allover again, I find that they are still magical.

We couldn't afford comics either, so my grandmother used to do the same as you by cutting the comic strips out of the paper and pasting them in an old magazine.

Yes, they are the popular reading materials for the kids before. Our father would always buy us Archie comics and others.

Hmmm... I recognize the names of some of those, ARM, but I've never heard of Mandrake the Magician or Modesty Blaise. (Uhm... are you sure you aren't just making those names up to confuse me?) I've spoken to a few people here who were really into comics when they were growing up and some of them are still into those same comic book characters. (I usually look at them from the corner of my eyes, just to make sure they don't suddenly go stark raving mad and attempt to kill me or something! Yes, I may have said some of the things in this box just to tease you... or not... I am not sure how I would be able to tell when some of those people suddenly unhinge... I am fairly sure there wouldn't be any appreciable changes in their expressions!)

@responsiveme I really never read comic books, ARM. I preferred reading books on different sciences and what scientists had discovered new in those disciplines. (Sometimes I didn't understand what they were talking about, but I kept trying until I did understand!) I also like to read fiction and science fiction. (I will read almost anything. The only type of books I won't read are biographies and auto-biographies.) I don't trust anyone to give a straight-forward account of their own life. Most of the time, the author of a biography is trying to make the person they are writing about seem larger than life and interesting. (We both know people are boring.) A person might say or do something interesting once in a while, but nobody is interesting all the time. I will agree that I love to re-read books that were my favorites when I was young. I downloaded all of Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan books not long ago and have been reading them again. I love them!

After reading your discussion, I went search for animated series from this Mandrake. Seems as they made a few, loosely based on this character. I will go search for them when I have more time. Thank you for this.

I have only ever read the Spiderman and the classic Indian "Chacha Chaudhary", both of which my cousin on mom's side was an ardent reader of. Then I have also read some graphic novels which are like comics but without any sequel. For example Sita, Raavan, Krishna, Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind.
