Are you polite to road construction workers?

Road construction aggravates everyone. It's dirty and inconvenient. It often holds up traffic or reroutes people to places they really don't want to go. When you encounter road construction do you show patience and courtesy to the road crew or are you rude and angry?
When I get into road construction I usually just sit and wait and listen to my radio. When it's my turn to go I usually wave and smile at the flag person. If I can I will tell them through the open window, "Thanks for doing a good job." I figure it is a little something to brighten their day. Everyone needs encouragement, and if we encourage road workers, maybe (we can hope) things will go along a little faster.

Yes, I am polite to road construction workers. I worked for a security company one Christmas and had to flag mall traffic. That gave me a different perspective on flagging cars! I also figure I would not want to do their job so why give them grief?

I'm not sure everyone realizes how dangerous road construction really is. Many road crew members are killed each year because drivers do not exercise caution when going through a road construction area. While I don't go as far as you to thank them verbally, I do exercise extra caution and try to give them a safe workplace when I drive through the area.

I don't like road construction either. I am nice to them too. They have a dangerous job, with all those bad drivers on the road. I too just wait patiently till it's my turn. It's usually the impatient drivers that annoy me.
