Cooking with coconut oil is similar with cooking with olive oil. But in my place, coconut oil is more common to use in cooking than other kinds of cooking oil. We use coconut oil for deep frying, sautéing, baking, roasting, and even to be mixed with food. What kind of cooking oil do you usually use for cooking? Do you use coconut coconut oil?

We do not use coconut oil in cooking, as it has peculiar smell. Although, it is one of best oils for cooking. We use clarified butter called Desi Ghee in Hindi and groundnut refined oil to cook.

The coconut oil does have peculiar smell, but we like its smell and taste in our cooking. I've never tasted nor seen such butter you've mentioned.

@A_loves_B The one who likes smell of the coconut oil could easily use it in cooking. No doubt about it. I can understand that you might have not heard or used clarified butter. Do you sometimes use butter for cooking?

@A_loves_B Hello - usually I'll use ground nut oil as I find it doesn't run the risk of, when over-heating, burning and smoking like many other oils plus it has a bland flavour. However, I do love Asian dishes cooked with coconut oil.

For medicinal purpose, I only know that coconut oil is good for hair. How do you use coconut oil for wounds? Do you mix the oil with something like honey or lemon..?

We don't use coconut oil for cooking. Our oil is either canola or palm. We also use olive oil mostly on pastas or salad.
