Do You Prefer City Or Country Living?

So many of us here come from so many diverse walks of life. Some of us if given the chance may even wish we could switch places with someone here to enjoy the scenery and just the quiet. Or maybe you wish you lived in a bigger populated area so there was more things to do. Personally I have had the pleasure to live in both City and Country areas times in my life, and they both have advantages and disadvantages. Now the older I get sometimes living in a quiet country area somewhere does sound nice. My husband would Love to live somewhere where he could catch his own fish and go crabbing. Especially if it was close by. My only needs would be access to Dr if need be, Grocery store, and to have internet. I many times dream of being able to sit in front of a nice Fireplace and drink Hot Chocolate sitting there under a warm blanket snuggling with my husband before we get too old to really enjoy it.

I can't imagine myself living anywhere else but in a city, where all the services are within reach.

We have always preferred the country although we've spent quite a few years in the city too.

I am sure no matter where you live in Australia I hear that country is beautiful. Would Love to visit there someday, but doubt it will ever really happen.

@KrauseHome I don't think we'll ever get to America either. As our son lives in Ireland the pull when we travel is always towards there.

I prefer country living. I experience living in the city and it's fun too. The place is busy and noisy with a lot of people and there are many places you can go. But I like the simplicity and peace of living in the country

Yes, they both can have their advantages. Sometimes now the older I get I sometimes wish I lived further out where it is not so noisy all the time.

I have always lived in a city so it would be a different experience for me if I ever live in the countryside... But if that's where life takes us, I'm sure I will adjust... I usually adjust well pretty quickly to a new place...

That is true. We do learn to adapt and adjust when life takes us somewhere different.

Yes there are times where living in the country away from everyone would be nice. Just as long as I was able to get to a Dr etc if need be.

I could never live in the country. I always want to see light in my rear view mirror at night when I look.

The city, or the suburbs. Country living is OK, if you have a partner, it is not good if you are by yourself. The grass is always greener on the other side though..I will say that.

Many times that is for sure. Living by yourself out in the country could get boring as well as expensive if you want to get out somewhere

I live in a city but I would love to live in a country side as I don't find peace and fresh air in the city.

I prefer living in the country. A big lawn, friendly people, affordable living expenses. I currently am living with my parent, in a comfortable home 15 minutes drive from the local town. I am only 5 minutes walk from work. Grocery is cheaper out here, and I get to do some foraging now and then around the village.

Yes.. I think sometimes living in the countryside but close enough to be to a bigger city area would work on both ends?

Yes, I hear you. With all my Health problems City life might be the Best, but many times it would be nice to live in a more quiet peaceful environment

I am sure you would be one of those who would think Country life is boring as there is not much to do and sometimes you are not very close to anything.

I am very much a city girl. I live in the country for 5 months and wanted to die, having to walk almost 5 miles to get to a store with hills involved, I hated it. Also my allergies were killer haha I love the city because of the people and more things to do and also...busses, I cannot live without busses.

Well that part of AZ would be interesting but very busy. But like i said i love the convenience of having Drs and Hospitals close if i need them

@KrauseHome My area isn't actually as busy since it is just right outside of phoenix, it is more housing and small shopping centers, it is lovely here haha

I moved from the city to the country in 2015. I have the beaches, fresh air, cooler weather, less crime - and a shabby internet service. Sometimes I do miss the city.

Yes, I think many times you have to take the Good with the Bad, weigh it all out, and decide then later what is really the Best sometimes.

Here most people still prefer to live in the city as everything will be much more convenient, such as going to school, work, hospital and so on. The countryside is fine but the equipments are not well compares to the city.

That is so true no matter where you live. And that is the reason why so many Cities are more crowded, and around here tend to be more expensive to live. But then the convenience for most major makes up for the cost.

I don't know if I could do complete country/rural living. I do prefer living in a city or town. That's what I prefer at the moment.

Well, there are advantages to both, but many times especially since you still have kids living at home, City life might be the Best for you.

I've lived in the city. I've lived in a small town...I've lived in the country...a very rural setting. I prefer the country. We will be moving in the spring to a small town. All the benefits of living "in town" but it still feels like the country.

Yes the city can be too busy and expensive. We are in a 200,000+ and it would be nice to be in a smaller quieter area as long as Hospitals and Doctors are not too far out
