Better To Be Safe Than Sorry.

Would you feel safe walking around with large amounts of cash in your wallet or handbag? Upon delivery of an order of dolls to my customer whose gift shop is located in a mall - I am always paid in cash - which I prefer, but it makes me a bit nervous.
So immediately after leaving her shop, I head for the bathroom and transfer the notes to a secure place on my person - I have never carried large amounts of cash in my purse or handbag. After exiting the mall, I hurry to my transport and feel relaxed only when I am safely at home. You never know who may be watching your movements , so it is better to be safe than sorry.
On your way to work or when shopping or on vacation have you ever been the victim of a purse or wallet snatcher? Do you ever feel in danger?

If someone gets too close and I have cash on me I am more careful than usual.
I donĀ“t have a credit card so I have to use cash most times and even so it pays to be careful.
Hope it never happens to anyone.

I can understand you getting afraid if you dream about it then.
But dreams are only dreams thank goodness.

Yes, better be safe than sorry. I was a victim of a holdup while riding in a public Jeepney in the Philippines. God bless I put my passport and money in my secret body purse under my clothes. Since then I am so vigilant whenever I am in a Philippines bank.

I'm alert when it comes to situations like this. I usually look for a nearby ATM or bank so I can deposit the money immediately in my account.

Never felt in danger but I agree if I had a large amount of money to carry I would not want to be on my own and I would be nervous until I deposited the money. When I go shopping I have a small bag I put over my shoulders in which I put my wallet and keys and it stays in front of me. I don't ever put anything in my pockets.

No, but a lady we know had her purse stolen, in another town. I never carry very much money in my wallet, it's not a good practice to do this.

I am so afraid too of bringing a big cash with me. So usually, when I withdraw a big amount to pay my credit card, I do it at the mall where we manage, leave it in my steel cabinet for the liaison officer to pay it at the bank when she does her bank transaction the next day.
Or usually, I withdraw from the bank where I pay my credit card so I won't be bringing it with me anymore.

I feel safe here.Do not feel in any danger at all.I put my wallet sideways in my back pocket. This is for the men.
If anyone try to pick pocket me.They will have a hard time getting the wallet out.
Not sure about the women how they handle this.

When I was working it was my job to take huge amounts of cash to the bank for deposit and it always made me nervous. Thankfully I never had a problem.

Yes, I am always afraid. When I am running errands I do all the others first and leave the bank for last. I usually withdraw huge sums as I have workers to pay. The bank teller tells me to call ahead and tell them I 'll be making big withdrawals but I tell her I am not stupid. Tellers have the people they signal when making a big withdrawal and that's how they know to rob you. Also I take the shortest route to reach home. The less I am on the road, the safer I feel.
I am intrigued that you keep the money on your person. I can't stand money touching me.

I do not like money touching me either and I am surprised that you actually thought that I would have it next to my skin when I say person. The notes are placed in thin plastic bags made for that purpose- then placed in another bag.The secure place on my person is an inner pocket on the skirt that I would usually wear when I go to collect.

I've never been a victim in that way, but I just don't carry that much cash with me because I know what can happen. My aunt used to go to a bank on a certain day at the same time each week . . . one day she actually got mugged at gunpoint right in front of her house . . . I think they followed her from the bank and knew she had lots of money in her purse.

Fortunately I have never been a victim of such and I always carry large amount of money in my wallet. I don't take public transport and I don't go to unsafe places. Hopefully I won't have to experience such in the future.

@Kandae11 I am aware of the possibilities that's why I don't flaunt it. But I believe that the more we worry, the more we invite bad things to happen. That has always been my practice and that's what I've learned from a Christian book.

@toniganzon There is a saying _ never you tempt fate - in other words I will not walk in a dangerous place decked out in gold jewelery and tell myself not to worry I'll be safe . What I definitely will not do is walk in a dangerous place decked out in gold jewelery. If I must carry a large amount of cash I will put it somewhere where the thief can't get hold of it - he would have snatched an empty bag. When I am alert and prepared - then I have no need to worry.

I had my handbag stolen in the United States, in Miami. Two guys attacked me from behind, threw me on the pavement and grabbed my handbag. I had less than 50 $ inside, but my head was badly hurt and my vacations ruined. I never bring cash in my handbag.

If someone every tried doing that to me, I'd have to start laughing @Kandae11 . As they would run away, I'd say, "Good luck". They wouldn't even find $1. Now if they were to try to steal my car, they wouldn't live long enough to turn the key.

@Kandae11 Somehow I don't think my 2000 Saturn would be of interest. Not to mention that they'd have to do a lot of clean up before they could try and sell it; since I haul hay in the car. But seriously, here in this town of 3,000 (1200 may be drivers), a call to the police would probably catch them toot-sweet. Especially when I tell the police the car would be easily identifiable considering I have a sticker across the back of my trunk that says, "I may be old but I still have a lot of gas left in me."

@nanette64 From your description I don't think you need worry, - but then that sticker might encourage the thief - especially if he plans taking it on a long journey.

The only time I worry about thieves is when I am carrying a certain amount of cash. Otherwise my concern would be for my keys and cellphone - the latter I keep in my hand most of the time. You could be absent when they try to steal your car - what then?

It happened to my sister while waiting to cross a busy street. It was in super crowded summer Rome. A gypsy chick stole her wallet out of her purse. A guy who saw it from behind stopped her. She had to give the wallet back.
