Beggar?

The man in the picture is the same man who begged for money to us when we had our lunch at a restaurant (in one day) and food store inside the mall (in another instance), and we always notice this man going back to us after he is given money; only he changes his shirt and removes his bonnet but still plays his harmonica.
If you can remember that discussion about 'food photography ' and 'i thought the flowers were fake', it is in that restaurant that the beggar asked for money and then came back in when we gave him money.
The man I believe does not deserve to receive money from others through begging. Why? It is because we caught him buying cigarettes and smoking while playing 'heads and tails' in the corner of the restaurant.
This picture was taken yesterday when I went to the city proper to get my salary from Miss Cata.
Do you give money to beggars who use the money for their vices?

@ridingbet The police says that giving money is an incentive to do nothing. They are right.

Some beggars take advantage of people who are generous. That is the reason why I stopped giving alms.

that is true. here in our small city, many Badjaos roam around, others holding infants and young kids, and begging anyone who pass where they stay. but i believe they are a part of a syndicate.

@louievill hahaha! i agree. they want to be one-day millionaire, or rich, and that is already gambling the money they begged for

I don't generally give to beggars any more because I don't feel like funding their drinking and smoking habits. I make an exception for one in our local town - she is a homeless girl and is living on the street. I was talking to her one day and she said she was abused by her husband, and has no family. So I do give her something.

God bless your good intention.
i remember a beggar here in our city who actually has a big house in a nearby town and all his children are professionals now. he often begged for money when i was in college. now that his kids are professionals, he is already a retired 'beggar'. i think his actions were good, it yielded good results.

@ridingbet Do you really think that beggar's intentions were good - expecting other people to pay for his children's education and well being? Perhaps if he was so disabled that he couldn't work, but not otherwise.

@jaboUK i appreciate him for sending his kids to school just by begging. the beggar is gay, and his kids are not his. the children are orphans. Mr V is an illiterate and he begged for the kids' welfare. good thing the kids have good hearts and they returned the good deeds of their father. Mr V is now considered well-off beggar-retiree but he is still humble.

I think that is better. Also we must check if the person begging really looks poor, hungry, desperate, or incapable of working. Some beggars here are even more able - bodied than others but they prefer to ask for alms or money. That is laziness for me.

@Kandae11 really? That I haven't heard it here yet but yes maybe. I read some news on Facebook about a man in US who prefers to beg and when he was offered a job, he refused and continued begging that is why a reminder was posted in the window of that place to not give money to the man.
I also read the man has a car

Not at all. When somebody begs from us while we are in a restaurant, we usually order food and tell the waiter to give it to that person. We don't give money because we have that doubt that the money might not be put to good use.

giving food to these beggars is the best. their stomachs will be filled and it can be good too because they can have their rest after being satiated.

He looks like he is capable to work therefore no need to beg for money. We can't always support their vices.

yes, there are some beggars here who are still able to work.
once, when we finished attending mass, we saw a big man standing. (i saw him from afar). when we were nearing the place where he was standing, together with the other church-goers leaving the church, he suddenly sat down on the floor as if lame (cannot stand up) and with his palm up, was asking for money.

Have you watched it on TV news and on Facebook about that woman who snatched the wallet of an old woman inside the jeepney? The woman was in another jeepney again the next day.
That is bad.

What can we do if he is already addicted to smoking? I wouldn't even give him anything. Some people are just making it a habit. I remember kids counting on the coins they've collected but you never know what they use for it. They even get left overs from the food and drink kiosk before they closed down.

that is why when this man asked money from me in front of Monterey that time before i took this photo, i did not give him what he asked for, because i know where he will spend the money to.

I was behind a car one day stopped at a light, the man was holding a sign saying "food, money anything helps." The woman in front of me gave him an apple and as she started driving he tossed it over his shoulder onto the ground. I don't give any of them a dime anymore.

They are everywhere. I mean these beggars they do not look like so. I have encountered many in the streets who should not be begging.Photograph was good did you edit that?

Yes the picture is edited. I added 2 'sunglasses one over the other '. In our city, even though the city is improving immensely, there is also the proliferation of beggars and some even throw the coins away because they prefer bills.

Instead of giving money, I would say food or work.
