Not everyone drinks wine, but if you are a server...

The other day when I went to the combo fish market/restaurant, the trip where I got started on boiling crabs and lobsters, the woman in front of me was ordering a large meal for herself and her husband. Her order included a bottle of white wine.
The poor guy at the register (the guy with the injured finger from a crab pinch) had a waiter's corkscrew. He tried using the point on it to get the foil off the bottle, then screwed it deep into the cork and tried to pull it out with brute force.
Both the woman and I offered assistance. If you don't know how to use leverage with one of these, it will never work, might even break the cork. It turned out this woman customer opens bottles all day, working in a wine tasting room up the valley.
The server was a bit embarrassed, but he will do better next time and maybe his finger won't be so sore.
The other type of corkscrew is much easier to use, but I use the waiter's type now because I can.
There is even a battery operated kind that requires no effort at all.

@jameshxstatic It’s an art. I do strongly disapprove however of screw tops and synthetic corks. I feel cheated of a bottle is presented that way.

Yes, screw tops pit me off a bit. Synthetic corks are supposed to be better than cork, so they say.

It is not much for ambience, but they have great food.
