Why I No longer Listen to Rock Music

"Turn up the volume, close your eyes and let the music take over your soul."
There are a lot of discussions about favorite music being posted in mylot.
Being a doting (soon to be doddering) grandmother, most of my music preference now are in the "easy on the ears" genre.
But I was once a teenager too.
Here are some of the rock bands I listen to while growing up in the 60's,70's and up to the 80's
Guns N' Roses ~ "Sweet child O' mine" (1987)
The Rolling Stones ~ "I can't get no satisfaction (1965)
Steppenwolf ~ "Born to be Wild" (Easy Rider) (1968)
Queen ~ "We will rock you" (1977)
Deep Purple ~ "Smoke on the water" (1972)
But whenever I become drowsy from "easy listening" music, I like to "Turn up the volume, close my eyes and let the music take over my soul". So I listen to classical music like Beethoven's 5th symphony. Some of the old masters rock!
Do you have any favorite rock band?
BTW, the reason I no longer listen to rock music at home is because I live in an old wooden house and termites eat wood faster when listening to rock music (the sound vibration probably drives them into a frenzy). No kidding.

Somewhere between Poco, Talking Heads, CCR, and the Eagles lies my favorite rock and roll. I also love old country music.
I saw Neil Sedaka a few years ago and he played Chopin for his encore!

Not surprising for musicians to cross genre. I have a CD of Michael Bolton singing opera arias recorded from a live performance at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Italy.
I like the Eagles and occasionally listen to country. Alan Jackson's music appeals to me.

I've sung "Sweet Child O' Mine" to my kids as a lullaby over the years.

@josie_ Here's a few examples of industrial music.
This video is roughly based on the lists of iconic songs from "Assimilate: A Critical History Of Industrial Music" by S. Alexander Reed.

Yes, with termites play lullabies and maybe they will fall asleep and do less damage.

@josie_ I have very eclectic tastes in music.
I would consider the Beatles rock, but theirs was also 'popular music,' so they are also pop. Their early stuff is more pop and it evolved later on.

I have a lot of different kinds of music I enjoy. I especially love listening to oldies and to the music I grew up with like The Beatles, Neil Diamond, and Billy Joel among others. For that reason, I also set up a music blog so I could share with others. I have listened to classical and opera of course but it really is not my cup of tea.

Good music is ageless no matter the genre. Like you I wasn't into the classical but thanks to You Tube I am beginning to appreciate this type of music. I still won't listen to an entire opera but there are a lot of beautiful arias that I am discovering.

@josie_ Yes! If you like Coltrane, listen to Miles Davis's Kind of Blue. Coltrane is on it. It's a very mellow and very "cool" album. I also really like guitarists Jim Hall and Pat Metheny, as well as anything by jazz Pianist Keith Jarrett and his trio with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette.

Strange . Rock music and termites do have a connection . Well I am trying to reduce my habit of music to calm myself as I am an ocd sufferer.

The music of today may have their origin in the earlier rock genre but that older generation had a lot of "soul" fueled by anger and political frustration which created the hippie counter-culture. Music that attract the youth of today can best be describe as "cute".
