Running for My Life

On my way home from my 10 mile walk on this beautiful Friday morning, I suddenly had a huge spurt of energy.
Why, may you wonder when I was dragging myself home?
I saw a huge black garden snake, about 4 feet long, slither out from under a flowering bush into the road just a few steps away!
After screaming like a wild woman, I ran all the way home without stopping. I'm terrified of snakes and never realized I was such a fast runner.
Now, I'm going to shower and have a manicure/pedicure with my sister-in-law. I believe it will soothe my rattled nerves.

Oh my gosh, this was definitely frightening! I am even frightened of gardener snakes that are suppose to be harmless or even helpful. I don't care how many mosquitoes they eat, I still am deathly afraid of anything that slithers on its belly Now you're a runner and didn't even realize it before!

@DianneN We saw a small snake crossing the road, this past fall. Kobe went to grab it and that snake lifted its head, to strike! I screamed and Kobe left it alone:( They scare the heck out of me!

Yikes! I would have run all the way home as well! I saw a little bitty garder snake recently and screamed then ran. It probably was only about 6 inches long - I can't imagine what I would have done is I saw one 4 feet long! Beautiful picture by the way. Thanks for sharing it.

@toniganzon It's bad for the knees and sags the face. Walking and swimming laps are my favorites. Who the heck wants a face hanging down to your bad knees?

So you had it in you after all. All you needed was a little encouragement, but 4 ft is more than a little.

@DianneN Quite an experience! Was this the first time you ran into a snake down there?

@1hopefulman No, unfortunately. I saw one like it five years ago while I was in the pool during a week our condo was being gutted. We came down to pick out floor tiles, granite, appliances, etc. My husband pointed it out. I literally flew out of the pool and didn't return for three months. Don't ask me about the spider I saw at the pool.

That is an amazing photo!
Ugh! I don't blame you. I hate snakes as well. Happily all we have here is those little "garter" snakes.
I think I'd have done the same or worse
