Our first taste of summer

Two weeks ago, toward the end of February, our family flew to the island of Cebu for a 3-day vacation. We booked this vacation as early as October last year. Despite the horrible flight delays, we still found it enjoyable and memorable.
It's our girls first time in Cebu. It's also the first time that our second daughter would be flying awake, fully aware of being up in the air, and not in Mama's arms anymore. (The first time she boarded the plane was when she was one year old and she just slept through the flight.)
We stayed at a hotel near a huge mall for convenience. We met our relatives there for dinner. Then we drove to Mactan for some awesome beach time. The sand and the sea were gorgeous. We stayed only for half a day because we still had to meet some friends. Our kids really enjoyed the beach. I did too. We're all hoping to go back and spend more days there. Maybe when our schedule is more flexible.
So that's our first taste of summer. I can't wait to hit the beach again soon. I used to despise summer and the heat. But now I look forward to it because I so desperately need saltwater in my life!

How I envy your early summer get-away! It's been almost a decade since I have been to Cebu and a little over five years since I visited my family in the Philippines. I am hoping that this year or next I will be able to visit. My fiancé's brother was just there these past two weeks to visit his online girlfriend for the first time.

I'm already dreaming of the next beach vacation. Still looking for a good travel package though.

@rheicel that's what I've been hearing from tue news. Though in my opinion it should be closed for rehab for at least 6 months.

@almostoveryou Is it true that Boracay will be shut down for 60 days?

We stayed from Friday evening until Sunday evening. We didn't get to tour much because our kids would get bored and restless over historical monuments etc. Lol. But they loved the beach. We stayed in a hotel near the port area.

@almostoveryou I wish I can. But I need to work hard to reach my short-term goals this year. I am sure I can do that in between.

@Shavkat Yup. Vacation is always a good idea. Especially when you've been working so hard.

i guess sleeping through is better than fussy! the flight delays would probably get worse as summer nears. did you bring and buy any pasalubong?

Ugh, this reminded me of how much I can't wait for summer to come and hit the beach for the first time in my life. I'm glad that you enjoyed "a little summer" so early. :D
