Ah, Mushrooms!

I have a few empty lots and when a storm comes and I have to get up trees or just a few limbs I pile the wood up on one of those lots, for fire wood to get later or just because it will rot with time.
Not long ago I was down on those lots and I noticed I have a nice amount of turkey tail mushrooms growing. These mushrooms love to live on old dead or dying hard wood trees.
I have picked, cleaned and dehydrated about a quart. Before the dry season comes I will harvest more.
Do you like to pick wild mushrooms?
Photo is mine - turkey tail mushrooms.

I would never pick wild mushrooms as I have no idea which are safe to eat and which are dangerous and so I prefer to pick them in the grocery store.

@andriaperry The thing is in the city we rarely see any mushrooms so we need to buy them. If I lived where there were mushrooms I would take more of an interest in getting to spot the safe ones to eat.

If I knew which are the non poisonous ones, I would. I love mushrooms and buy them even when they are expensive. I like them raw, fresh cooked or dry.

OH I do but I don't know which one is edible and which ones are toxic. I've been told that there were some people here who got food poisoned from eating wild mushrooms.

How did you know that those were safe to eat?
I love mushrooms, but I would have no idea how to pick them in the wild.

@andriaperry Thanks for the link! There are so many different kinds of mushroom varieties out there that it is often hard to know for sure which ones are safe to eat! I'll just stick to buying my shrooms in the grocery store! lol

I do not feel knowledgeable enough to harvest wild mushrooms. It sounds good for your situation, though.
