I learned to cut my hair on YouTube

I have long hair. Typically, I will have it cut once a year. Mostly because without fail, the "stylists" would mess it up. It doesn't matter if it's Fantastic Sam's or some Upper crust salon.
My hair is full and healthy. I would often get comments on how healthy and soft it is. So, I didn't really need to get it cut regularly throughout the year. However, by 12 or 13 months my hair would get so heavy I would start getting headaches. Then and only then would I give in to cutting it.
Once years ago, I found a gentleman at a Supercut's that did exactly what I wanted him to do. He was phenomenal! I went to him for a couple of years. I was too naive to think about giving him my contact information if he were ever to relocate. So, yes. One day, he was gone. And of course no one would tell me where he was currently doing business.
So, remember! Learn from my mistake! You find someone good, give them your contact information, just in case!
I had hoped going to "Nicer" Solans would the next best thing. I was okay with paying more as long as they could get it right.
Nope! I've had very bad experiences with other people cutting my hair. I don't like paying $250 for mistakes. Such a waste of time and money! What irritates me most about salons is that they look at my hair and seem to see a playground of potential. I don't want anything crazy. I want the same haircut I've had for the last 20 years.
I have long hair. I want an extreme V that ends at my waist. An arch that frames my face and long layers. REALLY? Is that so difficult?
One person said that is a "Runway" haircut and it needs a lot of maintenance. NO, it doesn't! For me it has always been one of those wash and wear haircuts. I didn't even have to brush my hair unless I wanted to.
I would always get "let's try this" or "are you sure you don't want it shorter?"
I was recently told that some stylists would talk the clients into chopping of their long hair so that they could use or sell the discarded locks.
I moved to Washington a few months ago. If I couldn't find someone in the Greater San Diego County in 40 years, I was not going to put anymore effort in an area I knew no one.
I got on YouTube and found tutorials with women that had similar hair. OMG! Why didn't I think of this before?! It took minutes. I was able to accomplish everything I had wish for!
Now....If I can only be brave enough to do color. ;-)

Good for you. I had someone once that did a horrible job cutting my hair. I went back again and she still did not cut it right again so I did not ever go back to her again.

If you can cut your hair you can dye it too. I dye my own hair and it is the easiest thing you can do. Surely there are tutorials at YouTube. I have a small amount of hair () so a tube of dye is enough. Check on the amount your hair will need if it is long. I prefer to throw some dye away than to need some and not have it. I now even dye my eye brows.
