Sesame Street birthday lunch

We had my son's little birthday party with his siblings today. Instead of going to the park like I had planned, we did everything at home so we didn't have to worry about the weather.
I put together Sesame Street fruit and veggie trays, baked some dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets, and Christina made cupcakes that looked like Elmo and Cookie Monster.
The birthday boy was very happy, and the edible Muppets were quickly demolished. It was nice and simple, and just enough fun.

Thank you! I think Big Bird turned out more like an Angry Bird, but he still wasn't too bad. I also gave Oscar some "grouchy" eyebrows with two carrot sticks sometime after I took the picture. I'm not sure which one was better.

That sounds great! And it's given me some ideas for how to decorate my son's birthday cake this year. I'm good at making cakes but I've never decorated one so hopefully my cookie monster will look enough like the real life one...

@spiderdust Thank you! That definitely helps, I wouldn't have known where to start but that's enough instruction for me to do it I reckon

I got a lot of ideas off of Pinterest.
She started using a #20 star tip on Cookie Monster, but it was almost too small and was hard to get the frosting through for covering so many cupcakes. She then used a Wilton #199 star tip on Elmo, which was a little easier. I think a #32 tip would have been perfect for both, but we didn't have one. If you wanted to do a Muppet face on a larger cake, a #6B tip might work well for mimicking the fur. I'm not sure if you use the same sizing system in the UK, but I hope
I also had the Wilton candy eyes on hand (leftover from a different birthday party), which she used on the cupcakes. They do make larger candy eyes (and even some with eyelashes!), which would also work on a cake, although if I were doing a whole cake as a Muppet, I might make fondant eyes (if I had time) or even a pair of big plastic googly eyes.
I also intended to put a mini chocolate chip cookie in the "mouth" of each Cookie Monster cupcake, but I forgot to buy them.
I hope this helps you!

Thank you! His birthday was actually last week, but we had his party today when his siblings could be with him.

@spiderdust Yes celebrating with the siblings makes it a happier occasion.

That might explain why he had such a hard time going down for a nap.

I try to make healthier food look more exciting for holidays and birthdays when I can. I make a "fruit turkey" every year for Thanksgiving too. It turns out a little different each year.

I made Cookie Moster plates too! I took blue paper plates and glued googly eyes on them. I think you can see them in one of the pictures in the comments thread.

It was! Last year he had a Very Hungry Caterpillar party for his birthday. This may have been even easier.

I've seen some cute Spongebob fruit plates using a whole pineapple (for his house).
