A very scary thing happened yesterday!

Right within my home, a terrifying thing happened! My husband and son say I overreacted, but I don't think so and luckily my husband was at home. He was about ready to leave for work and if he had been on his normal schedule, he would have already been on his way to work. Luckily, he was here!
I was doing some housework and was walking down our main hall to the bedrooms, when I looked down at the edge where the carpet meets the wall, and there was an odd looking black thing sitting. It looked oblong and balled up.
I called out to my husband and said, "is that a cock roach, it is some kind of bug, I think, but it could be a piece of plastic,, come look", so he came to look. He said it looked like a salamander and I said "eew" but that didn't totally upset me because I don't get scared of creatures like that , or lizards.
But, then, with his paper towel in hand, as he reached down, he said, "oh, it is a small 4 inch baby snake, black with a yellow ring around it's neck"!
I said, "oh no, I am starting to feel weird in my stomach"!!!!
He took it out back and put it in the woods.
Then he joked at me, saying, "where there are baby snakes, the Mama's are close by". I told him how scared that makes me and he laughed. He said they are not poisonous.
But, I looked it up online to be sure. They are not poisonous but I am very scared of snakes and this is the first time in 27 years that we have lived in this house that a creature like that has ever been found within it's walls.
I am still scared today. It freaks me out!!
Laugh if you want, but it really frustrates me!

@LeaPea2417 It's funny how sometimes 10 minutes could make a huge difference.

It was perfect timing, if I had noticed it just 10 minutes later, he would have been on his way to work.

@LeaPea2417 Same here. I prefer animals with four legs in the zoo, too.

I can understand your feelings...we located twice a cobra snake sitting silently below the space of our window Air Conditioner placed in bed room! We gently made a place for each them to leave that place and to go back to their natural dwelling. We are staying on the farm, this is common to have snakes entering our place! Thanks @LeaPea2417!

Now, this is a weird coincidence but this week when the air con man was here cleaning our unit, he found a little banded snake with an orange band around his neck in the unit. The bellies match the ring and they come in a few different colors, the turquoise is pretty enough to almost make the snake cute, almost lol

Yeah I don't overly like Snakes and found a baby garter in our bathroom, scared the dickens out of me! Of course no one was home either. UGH! The only thing we came up with is one of the cats had brought it in to play with. They have brought in all kinds of creatures as "gifts" too.

Aren't cats something? They get so happy when they conquer their prey. It is such a treat for them

@LeaPea2417 This is something that would scare me. Snakes lay eggs, how is it that an egg came inside your home?

Glad he was there since you are scared of them. They are not my favorite creature to handle but do not scare me either.

One day I was typing on the computer. I looked to my right and there was a snake 2 inches from my arms. I screamed and the snake took off. I could not find it until I saw it no longer alive in my file cabinet. First and only and hopefully the last.

@LeaPea2417 I described it to people and they said it was a corn snake which is not poisonous. I did not ask it how old it is.
