I was not aware of the earthquake.

Today, around 7:20 AM, an earthquake 6.4 Richter was felt where in live. I was asleep and was not aware of it. Last night, I had very big digestive problems. I took a couple of pills and drank a lot of water for dehydration. After the last time I went to the toilet, I finally fell asleep and knew nothing about my surroundings. Today, I woke up with the TV on and feeling fine again. I turned on my laptop to mylot and on the first page I read about the earthquake. This is when I felt happy for my stomach ache. But, at the same time, I began to wonder how I would do it if I did not feel good at night. The alarm is on and my daughter Claudia (who lives near) does NOT answer the phone. I will have to talk to her. Just after the earthquake of Feb 27, 2010, Rafael came to pick me up and take me to their home. But what about if I get ill? I´ll have to talk about that with them. How do you do it if something happens? This goes specially for people who live alone.

Even though it sounds like it was a pretty big earthquake I guess your sleeping through it wasn't so bad. It can be a bit unsettling as we get older to worry about how we feel when we live alone.

I am afraid of earthquakes, but I know that nothing will harm my house.

You okay now then? There is an industrial greenhouse right close to here and the lorries put their brakes on and the ground sometimes vibrates so much that it seems like an earthquake also. This morning one made me jump a bit with the dreadful noise he made with his lorry and loading it as well.

@marguicha There are earth tremors here too sometimes as we are near to big mountains and we are on an active fault line. Nice to know you are okay now on all levels.

I've been in three earthquakes, two minor ones in San Francisco and a 6.1 in Puerto Rico. I don't live alone, but suppose I would get a medical alert device and have family check in by phone twice a day. Luckily, you slept through the earthquake and there was no damage.

Happy that you are safe!! I too am starting to wonder about things like this as I get older! Definitely doesn't help with anxiety issues!

An earthquake that is 9.4 is a very strong and dangerous one - unless it was very, very deep or offshore.

9.4 is too strong. I am glad you are okay but if there are earthquakes as strong as the one recently, precautionary measures are needed. Better to talk to your daughter about this just in case. I am with my husband at night and he gets up when he feels something is not right. If it happens in the morning, at least I am awake, I know what to do by then.

If a 2.5 earthquake can be felt, a 6.4 is pretty strong! Luckily it didnt cause extensive damage. I'm not sure what I'd do if a natural disaster other than a hurricane were to strike my area. I live alone also and like you, my daughter lives close by, but she'd be too busy trying to find her way to work in it to think about me or anyone else.

It is strong. But my house is very well built. My children love me very much, but they have their own problems and responsibilities.
