Attended A Late Night Case Outside The Farm! Was I Right?

Last night at about 02.30 am I had to attend a horse suffering from severe Colic.
Though normally I don’t pay visits to local horses, the owner was very apprehensive and desperate to take me to attend the horse.
The horse ‘Zues’ was in severe pain, when I entered his stable he was continuously, pawing, rolling down, restless and sweating severely; if left like that he would have lost his life within few hours.
It took no time to understand the horse was suffering from Colic and I have given him a shot of sedative along with a painkiller to calm him down.
After about 45 minutes he got calmed down and having examined him I found that he was over eaten the feed and it got fermented instead of getting digested.
Upon my enquiry the owner admitted that he has over fed the horse as he was late to feed him.
I have given all the required treatment and returned back to my place at about 04.00 am after giving him, a list of the things – What to do and what not to do!
I was happy to know by the phone from the owner that the horse was well by 10 am and started grazing by 12.00 noon and is perfectly normal now!
I normally don’t like to pay visit to local horses as they can be the source of infection to our Thoroughbred horses which are delicate horses in Indian conditions.
But somehow I felt bad for the suffering horse and about the person who was too desperate to do something for the suffering horse, so I attended the horse to make him comfortable without any second thought!
When I told this to my sister on telephone with whom I am almost in touch, instead of appreciating my gesture she scolded me to believe a stranger and accompanying him to an unknown place in his car that too during late hours of night, for helping a horse.
She also reminded me that I was all alone as my wife is at Calcutta right now, what would have I done if something went wrong with me?
Afterwards when I thought for a while I felt, was that OK for me to go with a stranger during the late night? What was the guarantee that he was telling the fact and had no bad intensions?
Though I am convinced that I have done right thing, may I know what would you have done if you were in my place? Please respond! Your response will be highly appreciated.

I understand your sister’s concern. Is the stranger an acquiantance of yours or you knew from your place? If I see the need badly, the desperation and effort of the person, I would gladly be of help. If I was tricked but my intention was to help, then I know that I would die knowing I wanted to help.

Yes, after all being as a sibling she cares for me, which is very natural. He was a stranger wanted to have help which no other could do at that moment, so I attended the case without thinking twice if I will be harmed etc etc. Thanks dear friend @mlgen1037 !

Yes, after all sisters are sisters , they have lot of concern and care! That is one side of the coin the other side was the question of the life of a horse! So I think we both were right ! I have done what I felt right and I could save the horse! Thanks dear @prashu228!

Your sister reaction shows the concern and love on you, as many bad things happening around. However, we can't reach a quick decision and decline the request for a help that also for a sick animal. I know you would not think about the bad consequences and even not felt the same in mind until you heard the sister's scolds. That is the great personality and humanity within you.
At the same time, I can't blame your sister as well. She wanted to bother about your safety alone as a caring sister.
With God's grace everything went good and your timely interruptions served good purpose.
God will not allow you to get in trouble

Yes, that is what is a mother's heart , so is a sister's heart too! I van understand that, but believe me it never struck me to think on those lines when I heard the about the suffering horse and straight way I joined with my first aid kit, which i keep ready for emergencies if they occur far away places in the farm as the farm on which I am working is a big one in area and in numbers too! Thanks @ridingbet! God bless us all!

You can pass the judgment for yourself, i believe so. Sometimes it's the urgency of the situation. I believe you are really a good person.Usually Instinct tells us what and how to react on every situation. And you did the right thing. I will do the same if i will be on your shoes, only remembering safety after the incident. Well we do learn our lessons everyday. Try to think of safety too my friend@AKRao24 we often neglect it. We can still be of help with some precautionary measures for ourselves. Bring someone alwaya especially in the middle of the night. Take care and be blessed

Thanks a lot for boosting up my morals. Yes I have taken my assistants along with me as it is impossible to handle a horse without them and treat. Yes regarding the safety it never tsruck me until my sister scolded me. Anyway at the end of the day i am happy for the horse and the for the owner who was too worried about the horse! Have a great day friend @chavezrmc! Stay blessed.

@AKRao24 i can relate to the feelings of the owner as we can be desperate most of the time when asking for help and nobody seems to care.
