There is a temple in Nepal which is Known as Janaki Mandir, in a place known as Janakpuri. Janaki was wife of Rama as depicted in the Indian Mythological epic Ramayana, and she was married in Janakpuri, with Rama who was from Ayodhya situated in India. Here in this temple which is in the name of Jaanki, the people they praise the name of Janaki and her husband Rama in the form recitation of devotional Songs ,Known as Bhajans, with musical instruments without any break. This ‘Bhajan’ they have started 54 years back and is being continued without any break till the date. Four people they recite the songs in the name of the ‘couple’ for eight hours and these four are replaced by another four to continue for another eight hours. Thus three teams per day they keep this ‘Bhajan’ to go on perpetually and because of which this is known as’ Akhand Bhajan’ which means uninterrupted devotional recitation of the songs which is intend to continue till the time there is life on earth. Have you heard anything like before? Do you know anything like this happening in other parts of the World? Please respond, your responses as usual will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

I also had no idea about this though Nepal is my neighbor country and we consider it as friendly country as we don't require ant passport and visa to visit that place and vice versa, but today when most of the TV channels are mentioning about this, I thought to share about this with my friends here! Thanks a lot!

@YrNemo , I am not sure but they form a trust to maintain such temples. Since this temple in Nepal I can't say anything for sure. But in India the temples are looked after by The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, which is y! Thanks!a stste Government body! Thanks!

I am hearing it first time and thanks for sharing it. 54 years continuous bhajan is something amazing and unimaginable. However, I guess the people may keep on change with the team . I really wish to know if any one there continuously through out this 54 years.

This is a tradition. But I believe a recent one. As per Archaelogical and astronomical data, Ramayana happens to be around 7000 - 9000 years ago. As per some researchers, Ram's DOB is 4th December 7323 BCE While some other researchers give a different date. According to them; DOB of Ram is 10 January 5114 BCE Yes, the 1st Ram Navami is in December / January as per this and NOT around March / April as we all assume. The reason being Sanskrit Calendar years are of 357 - 361 days and standard Gregorian Calendar years are 365 - 366 days. These 2 are widespread dates. Not sure which of these is true as it is difficult to really measure with accuracy. A third evidence also comes up which is vast by nature. Valmiki Ramayana Sunderkand 27 Chapter Verse 12 mentions Ram sitting on Elephant with 4 Tusks. Elephants with 4 Tusks extincted around 12 Million years ago. This makes Ramayana million years old. Carbon dating of Ram Setu is found to be near about 18000 year old. Yes, there are different dates depending on who is calculating and how. The reason for discrepancy being: Carbon Dating is generally not the exact accurate and gives the approximate range. Further, astronomical movements repeat over a particular period. Nevertheless, all sources suggest that Ramayana is definitely not a recent phenomenon. The event you mentioned is 54 year old. That means some tradition has started 54 years ago which resulted in Akhand Bhajan. It may have something to do with the ruler of the region. Nepal became democracy recently. We need to research on what really happened and there we will get the hint.

Thanks for your research and I know we have many such controversial researches and this information here looks to be uncalled for! Here I am mentioning about the practice being followed her for past 54 years which looks bit strange in this modern World! Thanks!
