Don't You Just Hate It When They Discontinue Something You Use

My dogs love IAMs biscuits. They have been getting them for their treats every since I have had them which for Brie is 11 years. Now I can't find them anywhere. I wrote to IAMS and they told me they have discontinued them to make way for new and exciting products.
I personally don't want new and exciting, I want what my dogs will eat. These biscuits are small and soft and with my dogs unusual bites, they have trouble with harder biscuits. I still have a few biscuits in my bin but when I run out I am not sure what I will do. I have tried many other kinds and they just don't like them.
I am not alone, lots of other people are angry about these biscuits being discontinued. Does anyone have any suggestion for biscuits that I can try. I want something healthy.

my big brother brought home these biscuits for dogs. it is not the Pedigree, but the dogs are loving it. one thing my brother said is, we should not give in excess because there might be side effects. i wonder what side effects will that be?

Some can give dogs digestive issues if given in excess.

So far no suggestions, the problem is I buy treats and then have to throw them out.

No the big companies don't always seem to care about what customers like.

@BelleStarr I had that problem a lot with one of my dogs. He was super picky about what he ate for treats and food.

Your dog is such a cutie, Belle. Why will IAMs biscuits discontinue?

That is my dog Roscoe, they discontinued them so that they can make some new and exciting products. At least that is what they told me.

I'm sorry, dear friend, I don't have a dog, so I can't give you the right advice. I hope Brie finds other new favorite foods soon.

Have you considered making your own biscuits for the dogs? I am sure there are recipes you can find online. I know when I've gone to local festivals, I've seen people who sell dog treats and biscuits that they make themselves.
You can control the ingredients that way and bake them for as long (or little) as needed.

@BelleStarr This is true, animals can be very picky. It doesn't hurt to try, and if they don't like it, I am sure a neighbor's dog would enjoy it.

I am not sure it is something I want to get into but I may check the farmer's markets to see what they have to offer. The trouble is, even if I bake them myself there is no guarantee that they will like them.

lol Knowing my fussy kids they probably don't like them!! It may take me a while to figure out what they will actually like. I have tried quite a few that they don't like.

Me too, I like the IAMS ones because they were firm but not too hard and they came in a puppy size which is perfect for my little dogs.

@BelleStarr There has to be something comparable to them some where. I can ask my son, he works for a pet store called Chuck & Don's. Whats the full name of the ones you like, I will see if he can find one comparable to it.

I very much do! I am slow to give up things I am comfortable with. I recently discovered they no longer make the I pod I use. It was really upsetting but fortunately with some research I found a replacement and newer technology with similar features.

I am glad you were able to find an iPod you liked. So far I have not had any luck with the dog biscuits.

@BelleStarr Wishing you success in your search for a better dog biscuit. Why can't companies leave well enough alone?

I just wonder why do they discontinue a product if there is already a mature market for it? What is the logic of discontinuing a good product to make way for a new one if that product is really selling? Can't they just introduce the new one without discontinuing the old product? I think there's a problem with that.
What I think about that is, really, the demand for that product is not that good as it has been before. Maybe the diet of dogs in your area has already changed, thus lowering their sales. Well, that's just my opinion.

I have no way to know the exact figures but it is still hard when they just willy-nilly stop producing something.

I am not at all surprised you and the other people are angry about these dog biscuits being discontinued. It is terrible and dogs don't talk to get an explanation. The new and exciting products won't be the same. I have a vegan diet and eat some Alpro products. They discontinued their forest fruits yogurt. The other flavours have gone up in price and don't taste as nice. They used to come in a set of four pots. I used to like a larger pot called strawberry and rhubarb. I can't find it anywhere. My dog is quite fussy and he eats an expensive brand at the moment. I will be looking in Home Bargains to see if they have any better value bigger packs. Good luck.

I do use Pedigree dry and wet food for my dogs but I am not sure they make a biscuit that my dogs could eat. I will check though.
