Forever Young.

Growing old gracefully - what exactly does that mean? I am sure most of us would like to be forever young - and might therefore try various methods to slow the process of aging.
Unless one dies young , getting old is inevitable, but should it be welcomed with open arms? I have seen elderly folk who dress young , think young - and care not one jot about those who might snicker behind their backs.
I would never go under the knife to remove the signs of aging - but I won't sail resigned into the sunset either. The measures I employ to slow the process will include - diet, exercise and social activity. What about you ? Do you think about getting old and ways of slowing down the process? Who wants to be forever young?

@mlgen1037 Very smart! I always say that grey hair isn't a privilege. You have to earn it.

I'm just letting nature run it's course. I don't mind getting older except for the aches and pains
The only measure I take is dying my hair. I might not be forever young but I will be forever blonde

I was ready for that as mother was a fine example of what happens when one gets old (lol)

Well, since I am nearly 70 I just try to take one day at a time, I wear clothes for my age. I know what you mean about dressing young. I stay active. I am glad to be my age, especially when young people tell me, I hope to get around like you when I get old

I do now that I have reached that "age." All the dieting and exercise in the world doesn't stop aches and pain and arthritis and all the other crap that comes with getting old. And society has it's own prejudices against the aging on many levels that one must now contend with with.

Since I was in my early teens and twenties I have been cognisant of and accepted the fact that I will get old one day - therefore I have always been respectful of those much older than myself - and hope that I will get the same treatment. If started early and one is committed, the elimination of certain foods and the addition of certain others do contribute to a more healthful life. However there are some ailments which are not easy to shake, especially when they run in the family.

I do wish life were longer but the aging process slower. In many ways with life spans increasing it seems that may be exactly what is happening. But I'm like you. I will do it gracefully. Not going to try to alter things that aren't natural, because even as technology has improved in that area...you can still tell most of the time.

@Kandae11 It never looks natural, so usually when I see someone who has done it, I'm thinking...if no one believes that's really YOU, why bother doing it? The reaction is not, "Oh, you look great," which is what the expectation is by someone who does it. It's "Oh my, that looks fake." The reaction is the total opposite of what is expected, so it's just really a waste of time. Like buying a really old Cadillac because its a Cadillac, and you want to say you drive a Caddy, but everyone knows it's just an old car and you couldn't afford a new one anyway.

I would think of forever young would refer to more of as we age and get older, we can keep our minds youthful and feeling young. Getting old does slow down the process yes, but only to an extent that we allow it

I feel quite old now that I am 45 years old. I like to eat a healthy diet which is vegan and do exercise. I wish to keep my mind young and reading My Lot helps me. When a lady has her hair go grey some people dye their hair. I have more like white hairs at the front of my hair.

I'm in agreement with your great post and most of the comments. I turned 55 in February. It's odd because I feel younger than ever in some ways. But I certainl see and feel some signs of aging.
I'll keep trying to be as healthy as possible- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I believe they are closely connected, one affects the others to an extent.

I have aged gracefully. I haven't colored my hair in 14 years and people ask me all of the time, "Who does your hair color? It looks so pretty?"
I have also had people tell me I don't look old enough to have a 28 year old daughter. (I was 25 when I had her)
I just look after my skin. I allow the natural oils to moisturize it instead of killing good bacteria with harsh soaps and body washes. I stay out of the sun as much as possible and only wear makeup to meetings and interviews.

@Kandae11 That is why I dont wear it every day. It smothers the pores of your skin so it can't breathe properly.

I am a senior and have just glided into it without a whimper. I do dye my hair as my face matches with a slightly dark and natural hair (lol)

@Kandae11 Actually I did not even watch the years pass by. This happens I suppose when one is busy living and not just existing.

@allknowing I am like you - in fact I wrote a post about it on the now defunct Bubblews. I stopped thinking about aging when my son was born- all I wanted was for the years to go by quickly so he would grow and be able to take care of himself . I had nightmares thinking of anything happening to me and someone else taking care or not taking good care of him.

I have embraced my gray hair and wrinkles and while I dress stylishly I try to be age appropriate as well. Dressing like a teen does not make a 60-year-old look younger.

@Kandae11 I have started ageing but I am still a kid at heart. Moreover I work with younger children and so have more the reason to stay young at heart.
