Political Correctness

We live in a world of political correctness gone crazy. You dare not express a view contrary to that of the mind-washed mob, or you will be accused of being [you-fill-in-the-blank]phobic. Now we have a new insanity being foisted upon us. A local council in Melbourne (capital of Victoria, the state where I live) has announced their intention to change the "walking man" symbol on pedestrian traffic lights to a "walking woman." Totally crazy! Who cares whether it's a man, a woman, or a little green Martian? As long as it's green, telling people it's ok to walk, and stays green long enough for people - including older people - to actually get across the road. And just how much is this little load of PC rubbish going to cost the citizens of that council district? And how much better could that money have been used providing services that might actually be useful to those citizens? Please, somebody, invent a time machine so that I can go back to the era when people had at least some degree of COMMON SENSE!

You are right instead of using the funds to change such things why not use for charity works. For homeless people or abandoned animals or what not. And let's say that their decision is firm of really changing the design sign. Why show superiority of gender. Why not do a cartoonic walking tree so that people will also be reminded about taking care of our environment. Or walking vegetables to remind people to have a balanced and healthy diet. Something like that.

That is absurd! I'm beginning to think that governments everywhere have milked so much money from the people that they don't know what to do with it all. Giving it back to the people in ways that benefit the whole isn't an option for them so they think up ways to spend millions of taxpayers dollars on such insane proposals.

It does not matter as long as you know you can now walk.

Not sure how far back we would have to go, but I can't remember when things made sense so-

I think the era of common sense dropped off a long time ago, it seems there isn't much of it in the world anymore. That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard, why would they care, did someone get offended with it being a stick figure man or what? Stupid, they need to spend time on matters that really count and stop trying to find things to start wars over.

Isn't just having a walking woman symbol just as politically incorrect as having a walking man.

Yes, I would have thought so. But that's how the PC mob think.
