Are you afraid of looking stupid?

A girlfriend of mine, she's really cautious. She hardly ever asks questions even when she's uncertain of something because she does not want to appear stupid in the eyes of strangers or her peers.
Me? I could care less. I am quite open to asking seemingly daft questions if I don't know the answer to it. I had a professor once who always told us that there's no such thing as a stupid question. Maybe I don't completely agree with that, but I think it's okay to ask questions to learn and, in so doing, to seem ignorant temporarily once you ultimately benefit from the knowledge in the end.
What do you guys think? Are you afraid of asking about something or commenting on something if you think it would make you seem stupid?
Image courtesy Quickmeme. And yes, I do see the spelling error for the word "could".

@AlisaTR and sometimes it would probably much more stupid to stand on a street corner not knowing where to go instead of asking directions which perhaps everyone else knows.

I don't think that asking a question would make anyone seem stupid. It is totally okay to ask question. Noone can know everything.

@AlisaTR I think these people will find something to laugh if they want to laugh on others.

I'm not afraid of asking a question and appearing stupid. Some things that appear obvious require an elaborate explanation sometimes.

@AlisaTR I learned how to get around such awkward situations by learning to laugh at my own folly.

Stupid is as Stupid does. Yes. I'm afraid of looking stupid. That's why I stay away from mirrors.

Grumpy Cat doesn’t care that there’s a typo in “could.”
I don’t worry about looking stupid. Heaven knows I’ve looked that way enough.

I am also been told before that no question is a stupid one but there are those that want to be superior to someone so make a not nice comment to someone's question. I asked a question on facebook the other day and this guy acted like a jerk and continued on. When I told him by words that I did not like his behavior he continued on with it and I blocked him. I do not have to put up with jerks.

But think of this @ARlumintang... you may actually inspire someone else by speaking up like @tso1960 makes the point above.

I don't care about looking stupid. I am more concern on the fact that I could be stupid.

One of the nice things about getting older is that you reach a point where you no longer have a need to impress anyone. Whatever someone chooses to think about me is their problem, not mine.
