My son is 28 years old, and he dropped out of High school, so I sent him to Job Corp, a school where he could get, his high school diploma it didn't work out that way,.now he is is trying to, work on getting his GED, and he is having a very hard time get this hard math that they are giving him, I told him he should have stayed in school, and got his free education, but he didn't want to hear me, now he is paying the price for, trying to get a GED that is, going to be harder than ever for him to get, and My son has ADHD and he is always saying to me, he can't fail tonight,he was crying on the phone because, the math is so hard for him to do, and everyone that was in high school, won't help him with this had math, and this is making him angry, I can't help him because, I was in special Ed classes, and I didn't do, that kind of hard math.

@TLilly15 My daughter couldn't do math while a teacher was present "telling" her how to do it. She is a 'Tactile' learner, meaning she needs to do it herself. Once her teachers left her alone to do her math, she would do it without any problems. If your son gets restless in a classroom setting, maybe it would be better to just give him the materials and allow him to figure it out on his own.

I am sorry to hear his dilemma. I hope he can find someone who can teach him. For sure he just need guidance with the subject so he can fully understand it.

I know where it is coming from. It is really hard to even if we wanted to help. I think it is a good idea to have a Math tutor for him.

It is a shame that he wasn't classified and given the proper support back in high school. Why is he trying to get his GED now after all of this time?

I feel terrible for your son, he shouldn't have to feel this frustrated to get his certification. I looked this up for you and found this site, I really hope it helps, there are options and what's cool about this is that he can even study online. navigate through the site and check it out. Hope it helps
