For one, the early bird gets the worm or the freshest fruit if you don't eat worms. This can mean that you might get praise from the boss because you are not late. You have time to clean up after yourself because you have enough time. Can you think or have you experienced any advantages for waking up early?

Nope!! None!!! I can do all the same late at night. And grab the fresh fruit before the early bird even gets up

I have never got the praises from boss for coming early because he usually comes after me. But a rare day when I decide to come late to office I find that he has already come and gives me the angry looks when I enter the office !!!!

I am a nocturne, I work better and think faster at night lol. Having no boss, I do not worry about waking early since I work when I like to work and rest when I want to rest. "Early bird gets the worm" very true but what happens to the early worm??

Good that you can get up when you please as you are your own boss. Maybe the early worm should sleep in?

@1hopefulman early worm regrets waking up early while being eaten alive, it's more of being in the right place at the right time for me than having fixed time patterns and daily routines.

When my kids were growing up and I was working outside the home I had no choice to be an earlier riser. Now I enjoy staying up until midnight or later and sleeping in. Reward!

The only time I had to get up early was when I had a new position when I was working. I did ok even though I do not like getting up early. I can do whatever is needed from me but I do not go looking for things.

@1hopefulman I have a very light and early dinner (sometimes I skip it) and I am in bed between 8 and 9. I sleep because I must - it is not my favorite pastime.

I am not a morning person and now that I am retired I am glad to be able to sleep in nearly every day and cannot think of any reason not to. However, as I do love to watch the sun rise in the morning sometimes I leave the curtain open so the sun will wake me up and I go look at the sunrise and then close the curtains and go back to sleep.

I don't have any time frame and do not care if anything is done by a certain time. My house doesn't get messy and I don't have daily things to do. For instance, today, I got up and spent 4 hours outside planting. Then I did laundry and watched tv and got on here. My husband and I put everything away when we are done with it so there is never any mess.

I never could think of any advantages as I always had to get up early. My last few years of working, before retiring, I had to get up at 2am to leave my house to get to work at 4am. I got out at 1pm so I did have the rest of the day to do what I wanted but I hated everyday of those hours. Now I go to bed about 1 or 2am and get up between 10 and 11 am.

Yup. there are two reasons why I should wake up early everyday. First, in my country if we wake up more than 6 am it means that we are lazy people. There is a technical term in Indonesia, "Don't wake up late or your luck will be eaten by chicken" Second, I am a moslem. So I have to wake up early to pray Subuh, approximately at 5 am the advantage of wake up early is my body feel fresh and I'm not hurry to do the next routines activity

So, one of the reasons for waking up early is that you feel better. After morning prayer at around 5 AM, do you ever go back to bed?

It makes the day last too long. It is the first time I hear that as my days go by so fast. I rarely want the day to end as I always have something more I want to do.

Though I don't have a boss to speak of, I still wake up early in the morning. Why? I find myself more productive when I start first thing in the morning. I get to do a lot of things. My brain works well when I wake up early in the morning. It's probably just me but I find that I am wasting more time just sleeping. And I like the fresh morning air early in the morning.

@1hopefulman Normally, 11pm- 12mn. When friends invite me out, I usually go home at 2am and would sleep at 3am. That's rare. But no matter how late I sleep, I still wake up early.
