She's dating her teacher's son..

This is a pic of my daughter and the boy who took her to prom, whom she is now dating. That's a long story in and of itself because for months leading up to prom she only wanted to be his friend and she was not interested in a relationship. Then all of a sudden after prom her feelings changed and they soon started dating. She really likes him a lot, and things are going well for them.. He's a good boy, I know him fairly well through Marching Band. I know his older brother who played soccer with both of my older boys. I know the boy's father because he was my oldest son's soccer coach and science teacher. Yes the father works at the high school my children attend as a science teacher. The mom is an art teacher at the high school also, but my kids don't take art (they're into music and theater arts if you didn't know). So all in all they're a great family and the boy is a good boy and I'm happy for my daughter... Next year though, my daughter will take Advanced Biology, and it will be taught by her boyfriend's father. She's been told this is going to be an extremely hard class. It is college level, you get college credit for taking it, but it's HARD work. Most of the kids who take advanced classes have already dropped out of this one because of how hard it is. My daughter is good at challenges, but she does get stressed easily. This year she took an Advanced Spanish class that really pushed the students and she spent the first few months of school crying non-stop because of how hard it was. She did eventually adjust... but I am concerned about how she'll be next year with this much harder class.. I'm also worried she'll break up with her boyfriend because of how much she hates his dad as a teacher! Well hopefully it won't come to that! Do you think it would be awkward for your boyfriend/girlfriend's parents to be your teacher, or principal? Did you ever know any kids who went to school where their parents taught/worked?

How did that happen? Does she teach adults or is he younger than her?

@katsmeow1213 She is one year older than he is, but she graduated high school at 16, and got her Bachelor degree by the age of 19. So she got a job teaching at her old school where he was a senior. So he knew what it was like to kiss the teacher!

But she hasn't taken a course with his dad yet (the advanced biology) and only are taking word that the class is hard so she might not hate him after all? :) I did not know any of my teachers kids just in photos but none were the same age.

My boys have taken regular science with him. The advanced classes are very hard.. I'm sure she'll be really stressed next year.

@katsmeow1213 Oh I see! I am sure it'll be a challenge but I think it'll be alright in the end (or I hope and hopefully the relationship will be fine and not awkward too).

Lovely photo!!! My aunt was a teacher at my school and all I worried about was if I should call her Mrs. or Auntie. LOL! Many of the students in the last school I taught in had parents that taught there. It wasn't a problem.

When my son was in middle school, one of his friends was the principal's daughter. She has since graduated and is in college now.

I once dated my principal's son, but he went to a different school and the principal didn't know who I was. We met at a summer program and pretty much stopped dating after summer was over because we couldn't see each other anymore.

@katsmeow1213 Aww. That is sad. But I guess it was for the best. Now I am seeing a similarity between you and your daughter.

I think it is really awkward. But then, it is still her life and the captain whatever she decides. Why things will be controlled by others, right? I think she can surpass all these challenges. I never had this kind of situation. But it is based on my personal opinion.

Well I think it will be somehow awkward. I do hope she performs well in that class.

A few years ago, a girl I was dating graduated college, but was having trouble finding a job. So, she signed up to be a substitute teacher and ended up getting assigned to my daughter's high school. She ended up teaching my daughter's class for a week while the regular teacher was on vacation. Luckily, her and my daughter were very close. I thought it was pretty funny.

I don't know of any right off the bat but one of my elementary teachers also taught my mother when she was in school. In different towns. Later, my mom and our former teacher, then retired, were on the same bowling team! The teacher was in her 80's!
