Sidewalk Art....By My Daughter!

My daughter loves to do art. She loves to draw, paint, and make things from various pieces of recyclables. Over the years I think she has gotten quite adept at creating pieces of good art. In the summer time, she loves to go outside and use sidewalk chalk. She experiments with blending colors together.
This drawing of an eye was done the other day while she was at her grandma's house. They had went to the store and grandma bought different colored and even glittery chalks. She was in heaven and spent a couple of hours creating different pictures on grandma's driveway. I only had a chance to take a picture of the eye though, so I thought I would share it here.
Do your kid(s) like to use sidewalk chalk? Did you use it as a child?

The eye didn't show up for me. I'll refresh to see if it will. They have a new spray based chalk, looks like a spray paint.
You should encourage her creativity, she may one day make a job out of it.

@morgoodie Maybe the picture was too big. Try resizing it via paint.
Yes, every mom thinks that their child is the best thing since sliced bread but then it would be a horrible world if mom's didn't think so.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I just cropped it and now it worked. Yes, I can't imagine a world where all moms didn't feel a little biased where there children are concerned.

No for some reason it didn't upload. I got an error message and I thought that the whole discussion didn't load, but it did just without the picture. Not sure what is going on. I might have to try it tomorrow.
I do encourage her creativity and I hope that she can do something with it. I think she is good but of course it is my job to think that.

We have what is called rangoli here which is drawn on festive occasions. It is mostly seen at entrance doors. Chalk, powder and even flower petals are used

We have chalk over here but it's not called sidewalk chalk but I guess as we call them pavements it would be called pavement chalk. We just have ordinary chalk I think. That picture is fab. She's going to be a great little artist if she carries on like that,

Thanks. I hope she continues to be creative. It's one of her best qualities. Grandma is very gifted and she teaches her some techniques when Grace is in the mood for art.

@sprite1950 My mom did all kinds of hand work like knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and sewing in general. She used to make baby sets and sell them. My aunt made a baby set for me since my mom was already gone when I was pregnant with my daughter. I still have many of the things my mom made. She taught me the basics of everything but I just didn't have the patience for it.

@morgoodie Not at all. I think you can register her in an art class. It would encourage her to improve her craft.

@Shavkat She chose to take art at school next year. But that is a good idea. I wonder if there are any free ones around since I don't have extra money. I will have to look around.

She loves to show off what she has done when she does chalk art. She does it mostly on her Grandma's driveway since hers is smoother than ours. Grandma was actually their daycare lady who we adopted as their grandma. She always had sidewalk chalk too for the kids.

That is really cool. I bet you always know what to buy her for her birthday. I remember and still see when kids played hopscotch they would draw on the sidewalk. Also in town artists have drawn on an area and it is really cool to see what they came up with. Also they have drawn on buildings here in Jerusalem. It is really cool to look it. I myself cannot draw worth a darn or paint. I envy those that can. I can only make things on a computer.

We used to have murals on the sides of a few businesses in the downtown area. Not sure if they are still there or not. I liked to look at them. I can't draw or paint either, but I still like to create "art" once in a while. I don't think I could make anything on a computer either so you have some talent there. I don't know enough about computers to do anything like that. It still takes creativity too.

Yes it is really cool. The glitter shows up really well and is very sparkly in the sunshine. They got neon colors too and they are really bright. How cool would that be to have random sidewalk art all around.
