I Cannot Understand

Hello everyone.
Recently, most of the topics I read here is about a member blocking another member or maybe a misunderstanding between two members.
Why would a member would block another member? I do understand that we have the right to do that but thinking about it, what will it give you? Unless this person is really harrassing you or something. You can always ignore the person or the post.
I for one accidentally blocked @Porcospino after I responded to the discussion. Probably I press something after. I honestly do not know what happened there because I am her follower. Good thing @ScribbledAdNausem commented after and asked me and all is okay now. Got it all sorted out.Thank you Amber and Porcospino.
Mylot is a good place to interact. It is a good platform to learn, meet new people and earn as well. I notice also that there are a lot of new members coming. So this means more posts, more friends, more earning. Right?
I just want world peace.

I blocked someone who harassed me, Someone who copy paste comments on every discussion in existence, Someone who is rude to others though that person is not rude to me I blocked that person for being a bully.
Speaking of blocking, People who blocked me still comment on my discussions.

@CaptAlbertWhisker you have the reason to do that. But I wonder why do they still comment on your discussions if they blocked you. That is funny.

that is their 'privilege' but not to us who are blocked by the user. i mean, we cannot comment on their discussions, but we can in some other discussions.

I love blocking people for the simple reason that I don't want them in any of my discussions. It's my freewill and I have every right to do so. Now when it comes to misunderstandings, I don't block anybody just because of that. And I don't judge people who have blocked me too. It's their choice and they are free to do so. Why would mylot give us that choice in the first place if we don't exercise it? And like I said it's a choice and I'm not ashamed to admit I have blocked a few. I"m proud of what I did and I have no regrets. And I don't care about the earnings by the way. I just want to have fun here in mylot with the people I consider fun to interact with.
And by the way, there is no such thing as world peace. You know why? Because of our diversity. But that doesn't mean we have to be at war. And mylot is not an exemption to such diversity since this site is open to all people around the world with different believes and opinions.

@rakski Why would I want someone I don't like in my world?
By the way, even in war there's respect. There are rules of war we have to observe.

That should be the case with war -- respect rules. But then again, because of hatred, negativity, anger, such rules of respect are often forgotten.

I am wondering why you do not want them in your discussion?
Anyways, yes, that is true. Mylot gives us the right and freewill to do what we want here as long as we will not go beyond the guidelines they set.
Right now, there is really no world peace with all the hostility happening everywhere. But it does not mean we cannot respect each other.

I blocked someone for making inappropriate requests in private messages. Otherwise, as you say, ignore and skip what you do not like.

Yes, I think @hereandthere got a point if there are inappropriate requests, we should inform the admin too.

I have only blocked two people since I have been here..they both made critical comments on my discussion time after time, and I am not here to be bullied. If I want your opinion, I will ask for it. Anyway, I understand accidental blocking happens. I have no plans to block anyone else. I usually just ignore people who bug me now.

If someone is out of line, especially harassing me, I'll block them, just as I would on social media. I'd rather just nip it in the bud than trying to ignore it, especially since I'm not into drama.
I don't think I've accidentally blocked anyone (and I don't block often on here), so hopefully I don't block anyone by accident. And I have no idea if anyone has blocked me; it's the least of my worries lol.

This world is so vast and so diverse.
I like to think those who block on mylot are people who aren't very open minded or who are easily offended. It's somewhat upsetting when you get blocked for not reason, but I think sometimes these people are doing us a favor.
If they are so quick to block, perhaps we would be constantly "butting heads" with them anyway.

@ScribbledAdNauseum that is true. And if people keep blocking people, why are they here for?

I’ve blocked someone by accident using my iPad. Thank goodness he notified a friend who messaged me, so I could unblock him. I felt so bad. However, I had no choice in blocking a couple of other people who were very nasty, rude, and obnoxious. Some are long gone from myLot now. Good bye to them and good riddance!

I am glad we got it sorted out. Like I told you in my comment I almost made the same mistake in the past.
myLot has given us the us the chance to block people and if other people want to use that option, that is their choice. I don't think it is wrong to use it, but personally I don't want to use it. If there are people I don't want to talk to I just stay away from their discussions, I don't feel that I need to block them.

Until one fully understands the benefits or otherwise of blocking they will do it but once they find out as you have they should just move on ignoring the offenders

I also accidentally blocked a person here. Good thing I was able to unblock her right away. I would only intentionally block someone if he or she seems very rude. Other than that I can pretty much tolerate different characters here in mylot.

First, your username is so....... hurting and sad..... but cute
When I read your username I want to sing the song too.
It is hard at times when we are using smartphones or ipad, those are the times accidents can happen for blocking

It is nice place to interact and have friends. People should be courteous and polite and open to differences in opinion. On a beautiful platform like this there should be no place for harsh feelings.

I agree with you, this is a beautiful platform and people should be courteous and polite.
For harsh feelings -- this is also a site where people rant about everything. This site gives us the opportunity to be ourselves and say our piece ( as per guidelines) and people here do not judge.
