Have you participated in a boodle fight?
As a Filipino, it is not new to you and to me but it is the first time I have done it at home. It was for my birthday celebration. Yes, I am getting older again. I don't mind though as long as I am healthy.
A Boodle Fight is a way of celebrating birthdays and other parties wherein the food is put on banana leaves, rice on the center and other food around the rice on the table and everyone should eat with a bare hands. Of course, washed.
I have not planned to celebrate my birthday but since my sister told me that they would come, so I thought of having a boodle fight dinner. The meat were all grilled in coconut charcoal while the fishes and spring rolls were fried. I didn't have a birthday cake, instead I had an avocado iced cake which was made by me a few days ago. It was a very hot day and night anyway.
My siblings were helping me in the kitchen and decorating the boodle fight table. It was very successful and we end up all dancing, from a 1 year old baby to an 80 years old aunt.
So, how was your week? Sorry for not be here for a few days but now I am catching up. Happy hump day to all.

We have a restaurant here that has that concept and one time we went there just to experience it but we didn't enjoy. The food wasn't good according to our tastes only because that restaurant is so popular and a lot of people eat there.

Happy birthday, Ms. Thelma! I think boodle fights were practised by soldiers only before and later on others followed and there are even restaurants that accept boodle fight orders for some groups of customers.

I think that Boodle Fight was a military tradition of eating their meals. Since most of the time the soldiers are always on the outskirts of the country. The way they prepare their meal is like that in the picture of yours. they would eat meals together and enjoy each others company. It is also practical since after eating there are no plates and utensils to wash since they eat with their bare hands and eat it directly where it is.
Nowadays it is becoming a popular way of celebrating and eating not only for the military but the civilian adopted this way of eating a meal.
