Fighting The Heat

We had almost a full week with higher than average temperature.
In this country we have not the habit to have the temperature over the 90 F (33 Celsius) and almost no house and apartment has air conditioning.
Keeping the shutters and windows closed during the hot hours helped to keep the house cool enough to rest during the night.
During the day, we became creative to keep cool doing something interesting.
Some days, we spent the hottest hours inside the local mall, strolling the shops.
Other days we drove to the lake to have a walk under the cool porches in old villages.
I am sharing some photos taken at the small village of Morcote, we also had lunch by the lake and it surely was pleasant.
What do you do to beat the heat?

@JohnRoberts I had the feeling I misinterpreted. I know it's very hot in Los Angeles, we lived there 9 months and visited many times.

@LadyDuck You asked how I beat the heat and that's was my answer. It's very hot here 2-3 months in the year.

When I want to beat the heat, I daydream about snow-covered alps in Switzerland. But now that image has been shattered by your post about the heat! haha

@moffittjc I hope the place where you go swimming are safe. I had been warned never to swim in a Florida lake or river... you surely know why.

@LadyDuck The other thing I forgot to mention is that we have a lot of springs in the area, and their temperature is a constant 72 F (22 C), so we swim a lot when it gets hot!

The temperature in your side seems to be similar to my city. It is a normal temperature for us in summer. Perhaps you shall feel lucky as it is quite hot in Spain and Italy. In hot summer I like to drink something cool. Of course having a swimming will be very nice.

Italy was hotter the past few days, Portugal and Spain are the hottest places right now. For Switzerland this is not normal, but it seems that our heat wave is over. Right now it is very pleasant. It rained and fresh air is coming inside from the window.

We are also have similar temperatures. I have no AC or use fans. I keep the sun out during the day and open the window when the sun goes down. I drink my water and eat my fruits and vegetables. So far, so good!

@LadyDuck I have no AC because I don't like it. Thankfully, the way I do things allows me to get a good night's sleep most of the time.
It's also raining here. I think we have very similar weather.

@1hopefulman I also dislike AC a lot, it often gives me headaches. For a few hot days a year, spending money in AC is wasted money.

I eat ice cream, dunk my head under the water, but you have to know. 90 try 102 on average, but to be fair is a dry heat. The thing is its so heavy, it literally has a weight to it. What I call a lingering heat. Not leaving anytime soon sad to say.

@LadyDuck No, I have swamp cooler, big difference. To poor for AC but does a pretty decent job with a fan on you. Humidity plays a huge factor and one of the reasons swamp cooler sucks, but think you guys never bought one because its never hot there. Not normally. World is changing and think might want to go invest in one miss lady. Crossbones always gives sound advce. Did I just refer to myself in third person. I blame it on Trump.

@crossbones27 It is never hot enough to justify to buy an A/C unit, also considering that our walls are not the thin walls you have in the united states and to pass the cable through a foot and half thick wall is not easy and expensive.

@LadyDuck is it a ceiling fan or a table fan?
Here we are now having rains in between and that is helping even though some days it gets very hot and humid.

Swimming, play in the water by hose pipe. Laying in the shade reading. Its hot here 8-9 months of the year so we all have a/c.

@LadyDuck - We go walk near the ocean when we want to beat the heat. However, when it really gets hot, we have air conditioning!

@DeborahDiane I had to wear a winter sweater to go out this morning. Now the sun is coming out, I think we will reach the 70s by noon.

These pics are so lovely and give me such a peaceful feel - You are very good with managing photos on myLot. I would imagine that what you do does cool you down. It all seems so inviting and has such a European look to me. :)
