I can't get out of my house anymore

My agoraphobia became so severe that I can't get out of my house. I don't know what is the solution. I tried medication and therapy. I tried short distances. I can't walk for short distances anymore. My body becomes paralyzed by fear. I don't feel strong enough to get out. And I run back home. I am tired to deal with this every day. Exposure therapy doesn't work. I feel stuck and crazy. A prisoner in my own home. I don't have friends to talk. I feel I am losing my mind.

You said you tried medication. How long have you taken them before deciding they didn't work?
The medication I take for my own anxiety took 4-6 weeks to kick in. After that I never had a problem.

@dya80dya Don't give up. Refuse to take narcotics. There are other, more suitable serotonin inhibitors that do a great job. At least with me they do.

That's quite a challenge! Is it easier if you go out with a family member or a friend?

I have never felt anything like that, dear, but maybe ask a relative to go out with you?
Why should you go out? Just rest at home for some time. On Monday mornings, there are not many people on the streets, maybe you will like it more

Sadly most of the phobias are really hard to get rid off.
The biggest problem is that we make our phobias "coming alive"
we are our own enemy. You should try to figure it out why are you so afraid of. Did you had a trauma in your childhood or anything that lead you to have a phobia going outside?
Exposure therapy it won't work if you not force yourself to do it,
I don't want to sound mean but you need to battle yourself.
Its the only way to get out.
About your body becoming paralyzed mostly is because you have a panic attack : fast hearth beating, sensation of chocking, sweating , uncontrollable tremors etc
You get scared and stop walking. Its ok .try to stay there and breath slowly ,open your eyes ,look around ...assure yourself that you are safe.
talk to yourself (i know sounds stupid but you are the only one who know whats inside you)

@dya80dya exposure is difficult I know. I have Acrophobia and everytime I go out on the balcony i get really sweaty and panicky but after like 2-3 min I calm myself .
More like I force myself to be calm I'm not giving in to the fear.
I have so much fear of heights that even if i go up on a ladder I get panic attack but i will do it cause is the only way I can cope.
Personally I hate being weak and I get angry on myself for that probably thats why I force myself.
I even went on a cable car I was crying and shaking but I don't regret it cause I've was able to see beautiful sceneries. And if I let myself controlled by the fear I would have missed that.
Still I don't go on rollercoasters

I am sorry to hear that about you. I hope you can see a doctor who can give effective medication for that phobia of yours.
