As a child I hated Oatmeal, as an adult I love it! Why the change? Maturity I guess and thank goodness for that Having Oatmeal is a great way to stay healthy. So, don't make the wrong food choices to start off your day. Some experts say breakfast is the most important meal of the day so avoid those sugary pastries, huge coffee, and store bought breakfast sandwiches. Instead, give oatmeal a try and make it a staple of your morning diet. Oatmeal is not only inexpensive but easy to prepare, plus the added benefit of keeping the waistline trimmer and the body healthier. Here are a few benefits of Oatmeal: WEIGHT LOSS Only 150 calories, it contains protein, and fiber per one-cup serving. Oatmeal is an easy way to fill up without filling out your waistline. HEART HEALTH Oatmeal is associated with reducing the risk of heart disease due to it being a great source of fiber. BONE DENSITY Oatmeal is a great calcium source providing you with stronger bones. LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE Oatmeal contains potassium which helps to keep your blood vessels healthy. OTHER DISEASES Oatmeal can reduce your risk of developing colon cancer and asthma. Are you fond of Oatmeal? How often do you eat it? Did you know about all of these health benefits? Do you have a healthy favorite breakfast food? I like a bit of bread in my breakfast. For me, the biggest meal is lunch.

I will sometimes have Oatmeal with toast. I spread a bit of jam on the bread to add some sweetness. Having a big lunch is a nice way to keep for overeating and snacking later in the day.

I like my morning coffee too. They have these K-cups I've tried that are what they call half decaf-half regular coffee. They are very good but it gets expensive to purchase them all the time.

@bluesa Well, look at you! You'll be putting out a exercise video next This is a K-cup (it serves a single cup of coffee) You must buy a coffee machine which complements it.

If you hated Oat meal as a Child and If you are liking it now...it is not that you got matured...but then as a child your requirements were different and today your requirements are different. As a kid or young person we need lot of proteins along with all required elements to build our body. So we crave for different things at that time ! Now having grown we just need maintenance food and Oat meal is best source of energy for that!

Actually I hated the fact that Oatmeal always seemed to be lumpy not smooth when I tried it as a kid. Now, it does not affect me negatively. That's where the maturity came from...

Chocolate Oatmeal is different? You would need to check the sugar content to see how healthy it is since chocolate usually has caffeine and is high in sugar. You should try cinnamon Oatmeal. Although sweet cinnamon has some health benefits like reducing blood sugar levels and protecting against heart disease.

We have time by time, but it's not in our habits to eat oatmeal for breakfast. We always have coffee, since we were kids, because we are both Italians and this is the Italian habit. I suppose it's not too bad as Italians are among those with longer life expectancy after the Japanese.

@dgobucks226 Japanese do not eat pork and fat red meats. The developed countries were people eat too many fats, fried food and sodas are those with the lower life expectancy.

I heard drinking a moderate amount of coffee per day has health benefits? So there might be something to that life expectancy theory

Yes, I do like oatmeal and used to eat it a lot. Since I started my food program, grains have been off my diet. I did find an alternative that works very well and has the same consistency of oatmeal. In my Ninja, I blend up two bananas, walnuts, cashews, and almonds, and cashew or almond milk. It's wonderful and filling.

For me it was the opposite I used to love oatmeal when I was a kid so my mom would buy a can of it and she would cook that for me for breakfast. I usually eat it with milk ans some sugar. As I grew up eating it became less frequent. But i still do eat it when I get the chance of getting it from our grocery.

For me, I started eating oatmeal after trying it at breakfast during a hotel stay while on vacation. Funny, how you can rediscover a certain food, come to enjoy it, and make it part of your menu routine again?
