Don't you afraid to share number with anyone?

I am bit skeptical. Yesterday, a man sat beside me in bus. He initiated a conversation. After a few minutes, he asked me to share my contact number with him. He told me that he needed it for his sister who is looking for a job. He told me to contact him if there's any vacancy in our office. I don't know the person. His looks appear bit annoying to me. I was trying to avoid him. At last, he gave me his number and asked me to give me a missed call so that he can get my number too. But I told him that I would call him if there's a vacancy in my office. I am not ready to share my number with anyone. Did I done the right thing?

for me, you did the right thing. good thing he gave his number to you. but i hope you think a thousand times if you text him of any vacancies in your office for his sister. scams come anywhere and where you least expect it.

@deba12 you have to protect and secure yourself. anyway, you have his number, so when there are job vacancies in your office, you can send him a text message.

It's really unsafe to share your number with a stranger. You did the right thing of not sharing your number.

It's always better to be careful because we can't trust anyone easily...

And this trust is being destroyed by the unhappy occurrences that happen around us.

I think you were smart to not give him your number. Seems more like he was trying to get your number to hit on you rather then about a job.

That's why I avoid him. If my company informs me of any vacancy, I will call him then.

A bit suspicious if not desperate. Maybe the man really has a sister who needs work. We never know.

You did the right thing. He was trying to get your number and not for his sister. Also, if a man wants his number in your phone, don't hand it to him to do so. He can get your contact info or even run with the phone. I had a man try to do this to me and I told him no and didn't want his number even written.

I don't ask anyone's number unless it is a big emergency. I know that people can get your info by tracking the number.

Me too I'm skeptical. I may give it to someone but not anyone. I don't really give my number to strangers but when that person is good looking maybe i will he he.

@deba12 Now a days our phone has become much more than a phone and it can be exploited in many ways.

On the one hand, I can't see the harm in giving someone the phone number of your company. On the other hand, it wouldn't occur to me to ask someone I just met on a bus for such a number - I'd just look it up. So, what you did was probably best.

You are doing the right thing. We do not know so it's better to be careful than regret later. In the first place if her sister is really interested for a job, she could visit you company and apply for herself.
