why do people stop playing when they grow up?

ok, so now I am jobless so I can understand that when people grow up do not have enough time to play due to work, studies, keeping up with friends or family life.
But if you really have not much responsabilities, say you work part time, are introvert so do not hang out much with friends, do you still feel like playing lego or barbies or whatever it is that you liked as a child? ( I do not mean play station and such systems, since I know a lot of people play that or online games, i am talking more about these other games that are more based in creativity and imagination such as the ones I mentioned before)
I really feel like playing lego sometimes, but then i do not know what story to come up with and also i would feel a bit bored since i do not have anyone to play with.
Do you feel the same? what do you do about it?
Do you know why we stop playing like that as adults?

@amitkokiladitya yes I also think it is normal, I used to like to go to partys really a lot, now i cant care less haha, I mean i enjoy better going out to a bar and stuff but not real crazy partys like before, although i think it is sad, the older you get, the less interests you have, at least that is my case, or what interests me now is not as exciting as party hard or playing like a child.
What are your interesses now?

@dahliagyll You wouldn't invite them to your house but meet at a neutral place. If you don't like them, you don't have to meet them again.

@MALUSE uhm you are right, do you recommend facebook, is there any other platform? I just feel kind of weird playing with adults, although with kids would be even weirder..

I don't think that's true for me, I do ensure to play a round of table tennis every day in my Office and then enjoy a game of cricket during weekends. As people grow up, they get involved in other responsibilities that they stop taking time out for Sports and recreation.

@dahliagyll Sports truly are a great way to being fit and healthy. Although I go to a gym, I would always prefer Sports over gym to remain healthy. As age increases, we would obviously won't have a stamina as we had during our younger versions but then still a bit of Sports every day makes everything pleasant.

you are right. I think sports are a great way of keeping fit and your mind active. As a child I only played voleyball and went out for bike riding, but I was thinking more "playing" as the child do... with toys, dolls, cars, etc.
I sure enjoy physical activity but if I had to play games like a child I think I would last maximal 10 min.

@aadesh_1987 thats so true. I also prefer outside activities, but the wether is kind of bad where I live so I kind of spend more time at the gym when I want to keep fit :)

That's a good question, why we stop playing. So many thing start to happen in life that it's difficult to invest physical energy into something extra anymore...plus there's no one to play with, at least with people of same age group. Those who love playing even as adults like outdoor sports or board games, in majority of cases I see them playing with children they know. I guess, we're played by real life so often when we are adults that we then fail to see playing as one of the most essential things to do. But "All Work and No Play makes Jack a dull boy" is true nevertheless

I love your quote from The Shinning!!! such a great movie and yes I totally agree. Life gets in between and we invest more time working or doing things we do not really enjoy (cleaning, etc) or that are easier (watching tv) instead of playing. Board games is a good example , i consider it also a game, it is like the adult version of children`s games, as well as video games. Sports...Im not that sure, i mean sports can always be in our lives, and they are not considered something for the children only.
In my case i have a lot of free time (no children and part time job) that is why I wonder why I cannot just sit down and play lego haha, it just does not work anymore unfortunately, as kids we have more imagination and motivation to create stories I guess...

I like to play with make-up and hair care supplies and give makeovers, as if I were a cosmetologist.

I don’t think you should stop playing when you grow up. Of course when you’re adult you do your job so you can earn money for your daily expenses but it doesn’t mean you will stop playing. Is practicing photography not playing? I photography so I always play with my phone/camera taking pictures and editing them.

I agree with you. Yes i think photography is playing as well, I have always liked to take pictures as well, nowadays I do not do it much because I dont have a camera, but yes I guess we grow up and instead of playing we kind of develop skills in another areas which we call hobbys. :)
I like to travel, but that cannot be compared to playing.

I don't think we should ever stop playing! I sometimes go to a park and sit on a swing or hang on the monkee bar.

I think it has to do with children being made to feel like their to old to play with things like that. Look at how a lot of girls are told when they reach a certain age "your to old to play with dolls."

You can still play. My very first class in college was about how adults need to learn how to play and also work. I am 23 and I still haven't stopped playing. I snuggled my stuffed animals, give them voices and play with them just to give a few moments of stress off me. I also play video games and other things to keep the idea of play in my life. Maybe I'm just a kid at heart and others are just forced to grow up too fast or people THINK they have to grow up.

Adult life is child's play with real consequences.

Do not complicate your life with that, simply when you want to pass the time you sit on your game console and you do, you can play alone today there are many programs for that, it's hard to beat.
