Walk Away! I Would!

I had to laugh, luckily my friend could laugh about it too! Recently over a cup coffee or two, we could just sit and shake our heads. I don't watch horror movies and nor does she, but the one evening she was channel surfing and got pulled into a movie she normally wouldn't watch.
She kept telling herself to change the channel, says that she knew she should have walked away from the tv. Instead she watched the movie finished, told herself what a nut she had been to sit through it and then had nightmares the whole night!
Have you ever watched a movie finished when you know it is going to freak you out, or do you easily walk away from it, so you can sleep with some peace of mind? I tend to walk away, I have enough worries keeping me awake at night without a horror movie adding to it!

I love horror movies, so I would get completely wrapped up in watching one, and wouldn't be able to take my eyes off the movie or walk away.

@moffittjc lately just day to day life leaves me feeling like that. I will rather avoid anything that can add to that. Keep enjoying horror movies though and don't forget the popcorn.

@bluesa That's precisely why I love them! They take me out of my comfort zone and leave me on edge.

There were a few times that I got sucked in and then wondered what was going to happen and, sure enough the nightmares came but most of the times I don't even start.

I don't blame you. I am not interested in horror films. When I was a kid, I watched Dracula with a friend of mine. I had the most horrible nightmares. I had to sleep with my parents for weeks before I felt save enough to sleep in my own bed. And I was 29 years old! LOL! Just kidding. I must have been 9 or 10.

Well, I love horror movies . But there are some movies that are really disturbing and those are the ones that give me nightmares. Films like "Requiem for a dream" or "American History X". All those events can easily happen in real life and that's what gives me nightmares.
A horror movie is just a movie, I can go to sleep after watching such movies, no problem.

I don't like horror movies that involve ghosts. I don't want to subject myself to that feeling of being scared and paranoid that something might jump on me or show up in the mirror.

I try to avoid movies that will give me nightmares however, these days the news is bad enough to cause nightmares.

That is so true, Iz, the news here is also horrific @BelleStarr . Don't know how we're supposed to get a peaceful nights rest lately.

I've inadvertently been drawn into a movie that I normally wouldn't watch. Most of the time I would just walk away.

I do like horror movies, - but I am sure to have enough time to watch something else, something funny, or relaxing before bed.
I can relate though - I once diced jalapenos with no gloves.... I knew it was a bad choice and did it anyway. Ha.

I am use to watching horror movies, but my wife always does these kinds of things. I warn her about the consequences but she ignore them. And at night she has these nightmares and makes weird noises and gets frightened and keeps me awake for long

@bluesa Yeah that was one of the promises made while getting married, that I will keep patience no matter what the situation in our married life might be
