Shunning to Buy Expensive Food Items

At the grocery yesterday, I was shocked to see the very high prices of vegetables and fruits, so I chose to buy the cheaper ones although I thought I still need to buy those pricey ones when I have the budget.
Could this be the result of the 6.4 percent inflation rate as reported in the news for the month of August? So sad the Philippines has the highest inflation rate compared with other Asian countries.
I wish every Filipino can have the chance to buy what they wanted to eat.

I can find other cheaper ones, although the pricey ones are those needed for green salads.

@acelawrites The lettuces and other veggies are often contaminated with eColi or some other gruesome thing. Of course, they don't tell us until after a lot of people get sick.

@Kasjnak Yes, you are fortunate to have your own garden; also organic animals for meat. That's great, you do not have to buy.

@acelawrites well, yes and no, my parents have them and I see them only a few times every year. But it's still a huge help, I don't know what I would do if it wasn't for them .

Organic = expensive these days. I'm fortunate that my parents have their own garden and a little farm so every now and then I get some vegetables, fruits and meat from them. Everything organic, chemicals free. I can't afford to buy organic food, only rarely .

It's really sad that we always have to face that most of the times. Maybe we have to start growing our own food soon.

@acelawrites Yes you're right. But we can't really do much about those hoarders. They are everywhere!

It is one of the solutions; also lessen the amount of rice being eaten or eat alternatives to rice because of rice scarcity and its rising prices. Woo to those hoarders too!

It is true, like in my case, I want to eat walnuts, almonds, etc. which are good for the body, but they are so expensive here; also different kinds of berries like blueberries, grapes, etc.

sadly, that is the reason. while some dive into riches, many plunge into debts. the one day salary that i got last August 16-31, 2018, is for my medicines. right now, i still have P600 and i think i can stretch that until the 16th of this month

Maybe you are handle your finances wisely; for others, they tend to borrow for survival or to make ends meet.

Same problem in Romania, inflation was above 5%. It seems everything got pricier and this is causing problems to everyone. But we knew this will happen because of the politics and the taxes, still, many people were in denial: "No, don't worry, the prices will stay the same!". Yeah, right...

@acelawrites here we know why, all experts agreed this will happen if the government does what it said it would do (some salary raises for government employees, new taxes on gas, gasoline, enrgy and others and many more things). These things could only give us inflation, there was no other way to go.

Sad to know but quite true. Prices of products are really getting high. Well, there are so many factors affecting such including the flooding incidents happening in our place. Production have been hampered and add the effect of the rising cost of oil. I do hope that our government will be able to resolve the issue, otherwise we will all suffer.

It is true; the government should do its art to ease the burden of the public.

that's why even people in urban areas are trying to plant their own in cans and buckets, also trying herbal remedies to avoid doctor visits and prescribed medicines

Indeed, people should plant something like vegetables on pots for urban gardening; or directly on the soil if they have space available. It is wise to raise your own veggies than buy expensive ones.

This is so my friend because of the TRAIN Law plus taxes are getting higher so businesses owners force themselves to increase more. The increase is almost done weekly. That is my observation prices soar like crazy every week. Anyway, our country no longer borrows money in the world bank, everything derives from taxes invaders. They have to pay or business establishment would be subject for closure hehehehe.

There are families that have difficulty already in reaching even their basic needs and I think that in this situation, it even more difficult for them to buy for decent meal.
I have this bun for snack I used to buy often for 10Php but when I bought it today, it's already 15Php. Sigh!

Inclement weather also affect the prices of vegetables and fruits; that is true.
