Are you comfortable with people staring at you?

I'm not. I mean, I don't mind people looking at me, and I dont mind them making eye contact when I am speaking to them, but when a person you are not engaging with in any way follows you with their eyes...I find that uncomfortable and rude.
Today I was out walking, minding my own beeswax and someone waiting for a bus started staring at me. His eyes followed me for about 3 minutes. I thought he was going to twist his head off of his neck just to get a look.
That sort of behavior is unnerving to me. I don't see a reason for it. I told him to turn his head in the direction the bus was coming, which was in the other direction.
What do you do or say to someone who is staring at you?

I wonder what was was going on in his head? I don't know what I would say. I was staring at someone as I thought they looked familiar and turned out she had once lived in my building and that is why she looked familiar.

I think this person may have been looking for an easy pick up, the way he was looking.

@enlightenedpsych2 Everyone is so paranoid these days. I never know what to believe. One day, I was waiting to cash out of a supermarket. There was one lady in front of me. She suddenly started screaming and carrying on that I was stalking her and wanted to follow her home. I did not say a word and neither did the cashier. The woman stomped off, turning to give me dirty looks.
I never saw her before and certainly was not stalking her. I'm glad I did not say anything. It would have escalated.

@enlightenedpsych2 I don't know why she had the outburst. I did not do anything to start it. I was just in line behind her, which is nothing unusual.

I used to feel uncomfortable, now I stare back.... or.... Sometimes I will do the little nose thing I do, usually for little kids staring but what the heck. Or I may ask " Do I know you?" Of I am having a bad day I say " what?!" and make a face.

Not anymore. When I looked lovely I did not mind. But now I am not lovely anymore so do not want anyone to look at me.
If anyone were staring at me, I would say are you needing a photo?
But seriously who knows if they are serial killer and sizing you up to murder you..best to show a bit of attitude and back them off.

@Starmaiden Yes. To do at least that would be nice. Of course, we could do the same next time. They stare at US and WE wave and say hello. Would probably freak them out.

It wouldn't be so bad if they waved and said hello.

I feel like this makes me sound like a petty person probably (and maybe there's some truth in that), but when somebody is staring at me, I stare right at them without blinking (i can go almost 2 minutes without blinking) until they look away. if they don't, i'll flex my eyebrows sometimes to make it more apparent that yes, i know you're looking at me, stop it

I just ignore them. That's the best thing to do.
