What is your floor made of?

Most homes here in India have tiled or mosaic tiles floors. I rarely see any wooden or carpeted floor. Tiled floors are easy to maintain as the dust and dirt levels here are very high. What kind of floor do you have at home?

My house is carpeted, except for the kitchen (tiled) and bathroom (lino.) It is a rental, so I can't change it, but if I owned it I would rip up the tiles in the kitchen (very cold to stand on in winter) and put vinyl through the kitchen and diningroom, and tile the bathroom.

Tiled floors do tend to get cold. The winters for us are still warm, so we're not very bothered about this.

We're pleased we had vinyl put right through the house with tiles in wet areas. It is much easier to keep clean than carpet and our winters don't get freezing cold.

All of the floors are hardwood except the bathroom and kitchen. I love having hardwood! I would NEVER put carpet in.

I have laminate flooring throughout my apartment. It is similar to hardwood flooring but it isn't real wood. It is also easier to clean than carpeting. Just a swipe of the swiffer broom and the dust is collected. Here is a photo of my livingroom/front hall. Thats my ghost kitty haunting the hallway in front of the bathroom.

@pitstop She's named after the Greek Goddess Athena. She lives up to her name...too literally sometimes.

We first had white marble chips as those days spartek was not there. We have now replaced it with ivory spartek large sized tiles.

We have tiles and wood flooring at home. Tiles are indeed easy to maintain but wood will always be my favourite. Wood has character. I

Wood is very classy. Obviously more difficult to maintain too.

@pitstop That true. Have to make sure it is well treated and not too wet. We are using good quality wood but still maintaining it is hard.

We have what looks like wood but is actually vinyl strips. It is easy to clean and maintain but didn't cost nearly as much as real wood. The bathrooms and laundry are tiled.

I have tiled floor. And it is creamy white, so that dust or dirt can not hide.

Tiles and they are really hard to maintain. But if given a chance, I would like to switch into wooden flooring. It looks classy and easy to maintain.
