I stayed at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago. She showed me something really weird!
Try this at your house and see what happens...
With your smartphone in a room with no lights running, turn on your video camera. Then turn on your phone's flashlight. Just let the video run while you watch closely.
Do you see occasional light circles that shoot across the screen? Maybe you see a dark shadow (with nothing to make the shadow) looking at you or running through the video?
I wish I could post what I saw when I tried this at her house... It was very interesting! And a bit on the weird side, too!

I have caught orbs in photos while taking them before I rent a house, or just spontaneous anywhere.

@andriaperry In the one I took at my friend's house "something" looked at me and then ran across the room. She has a cat but he doesn't run anywhere and he was curled up beside me at the time, anyway.

I think I'd rather send it to you, Plethos! Then you can add haunted to your list of things that could happen to you!
Have you ever taken a photo and seen one of the white orbs shooting across the photo? And did you try doing what I suggested in the discussion starter? If so, did you see anything odd or weird?

You are scaring me, DE!
I have never seen a ghost, spirit, alien or anything because I've always felt I must not be "useful" to them. With my luck I will see a lot of nothing . Those circles or shadow do sound interesting - but kinda scares me at the same time ! So what exactly did you see?

@DaddyEvil I'm no video expert, so I can't help (but can you believe my son's 8-9 year old friends tell me they already have their own YouTube channels ?)
Orbts - I think of spirits when I hear orbs. That's so crazy freaky. Did you freak out? I'd probably drop the phone and run !

I honestly don't know what I was seeing, SmilePie. Some things looked like white orbs shooting across the camera lens. Other things looked like shadows. One looked at me and shot across the room afterward. The ceiling showed shadows in part of the 2 and 1/2 minute video that moved across the room and disappeared or just flicked on and then were gone again.
I may try to figure out how to post the video on YouTube for everyone to look at themselves. (I don't know how to do that but Pretty says it isn't very difficult, although she hasn't posted a video, either.)

@Shavkat I see, Shavkat! You might get fired by your "boss" if you take too much time away from him to make a video experiment! (But it doesn't have to be done at night, either. Both videos I made (one at Leah's and one at my own house) were done in the daytime. We just both happen to have black-out curtains on our windows. *shrug*)
BTW, I just posted both videos on YouTube and wrote a discussion about setting up a YouTube channel, if you're interested?

It might be fun if you tried this experiment, Shavkat. I know you have a smartphone, so it would be easy enough for you to do.
If you do, please let us know if you see anything.

I can't post videos on myLot. And I don't have a YouTube channel.
The video shows white orbs shooting across the lens of my phone/camera and also shows shadow "things" that move around the room very quickly. (I promise, there wasn't anything in the room with us that could have caused these things.)

@DaddyEvil In office I have a room heater.
I think that may make me worse as I have to travel in cold weather (to office and back). Then at home, who is sitting one place inside home, I am busy on working. Usually I get affect at the time of changing season, this time I don't know what went wrong. There was some community celebrations on last Sunday so we were practicing late evening after work in this cold climate, which may be the reason for my sickness.
Regarding Christmas, no we do not celebrate Christmas.

No, she had just heard that sometimes you can see interesting things when you do this experiment, so she wanted me to try it with her. (When she and her daughter tried it in her daughter's bedroom, she said the little white glowing balls were really thick and kept flying straight at them. I'm glad that didn't happen when I was recording things! )
How have you been, Sreekala? It seems like a long time since I've seen/talked with you.

@DaddyEvil I have just remembered a ghost used to be in my house when this daughter I live with now was with her first fiance living there also. The 3 of us didn't know the name but my daughter said his name was Christopher and he told her that. Never talked to the rest of us. anyway, he would turn the fan on or the tv suddenly for no reason and move things around the kitchen when no one was in there. She would say loudly "Christopher stop that! " and he would. when we said it he ignored us. I was worried he would follow her when we all moved but poor guy must have had to stay behind with his broken heart .

@bunnybon7 I agree, sometimes there will be a woman who doesn't have the "mother" instinct or it will be warped in some way.
Patsi (Pretty's mom) had three daughters. Her oldest daughter was in foster care when I met Patsi. (I didn't know she had an older daughter until two or three years after we got married!) I wondered, once in a while, how her middle daughter, Misty, would have turned out if I hadn't taken over caring for her when she was nine and treated her like my own until after her mom and I got divorced. (Misty is a fine young lady. She lives and works in Hawaii as a cosmetic consultant. I understand that she travels around the world, helping the wealthy pick and choose cosmetics that work for them. I have no idea how she came across that job or exactly what it entails. As long as she's happy and healthy, I'm not too worried about her.)
One of my brothers had a brain tumor that ruptured when he was pre-teen. He has always been somewhat "off". He is a hoarder. The last time I saw/talked with him he was living in a nursing home because he either wouldn't or couldn't care for himself properly. (The nursing center made a mistake, though. They allow him free access to his own funds and allows him to come and go as he pleases, as long as he is there at light's out and for breakfast the next morning. The nursing staff complained to my oldest brother, who is technically my brother's guardian, that he has filled his own room with "stuff" as well as a room in the nursing home's basement. I have no idea what he suggested they do. It wasn't my problem and I wasn't interested in how/what they did about it.)
No, not silly at all... Every child wants to believe they are normal and have a normal family/life. (That is a psychological imperative. It is there so no matter what actually happens, the child can cope with life. Sometimes it doesn't work as well as nature intended, but usually it does help.)
I am so glad you had your aunts, Bonnie!

@bunnybon7 I am so sorry, Bonnie.
I can tell you something interesting, though. After nine years of fighting for custody of my daughter, the judge agreed that her mom wasn't fit to have her. After the judge dismissed the case he told me I was the first man to win full custody of a child (especially a female child) in Missouri courts. My ex had supervised visitation rights only! She chose to exercise that right one time after I got full custody... She took Pretty outside so they could walk while talking and kidnapped her right out from under a deputy's nose! When he told me what happened, I'm surprised I didn't go to jail! I called him every name in the book except a white man at the top of my lungs! (He didn't try to calm me down or do anything besides stand there and let me yell. Probably for the best, I'm thinking. *shake my head* I was a bit upset with the man.)
When Pretty could get to a phone she called me to come get her. The deputy drove me there and told Patsi it would be best for Pretty if she stayed away from her from then on.
A few days later I got a letter from the court confirming what the deputy said.

There are white orbs that flash past the lens as well as shadows that do odd things on the video. One shadow looked at me then took off running.

@DaddyEvil LED light (it's the case of the phone flashlight) "flickers" a lot more that incandescent or fluorescent lamps. You cannot see this with your eyes, but if you use a digital camera near a led light source you will notice how much the light "flickers". The circles of light are lens flare, nothing weird or supernatural.

@LadyDuck Okay, but what about the shadow that seemed to look at me and then shot across the room? That can't be caused by the LED bulb flickering, can it?

Were you able to give this experiment a try, Anna?
The only explanations I've found online about this is that the video recorder on my phone is picking up specks of dust and the flashlight on my phone was causing the shadows. (I know that explanation isn't correct. I can SEE the orbs flying quickly at my phone and at my face. Dust doesn't react like that. And my flashlight on my phone doesn't "flicker" so can't be causing shadows, especially shadows that dart across the room.)

@DaddyEvil Oh man so this photo was before everything went down hill. I found two years back I am allergic to wasps. I am so glad you had the epi-pen in your car but yikes what if the walk had been longer to get back to the car. Maybe next time your doing something outdoorsy you should carry the epi-pen in a bag with you in case since now you know you have a severe allergy like that.

@shaggin I started carrying an epi-pen in my car because I was driving the first time I had a major allergic reaction... to pollen being blown by the wind. I ended up in the ER having all kinds of tests run on me. (I can't keep an epi-pen in my glove box. The weather here is too inconsistent. Yesterday it was 60 degrees when I left home. When I returned five hours later it was 29 degrees. Too much heat or cold ruins an epi-pen.) I'm lucky I bothered taking one on the trip with me. I usually don't.
I can't carry an epi-pen in a pocket because of the large temperature differences between morning and afternoon or morning and night. (It's true that temperature differences that large are fairly rare, but they do happen.) Those things cost $300 each. I can't afford them as it is. I really can't afford to let one get ruined by carrying it on me!
Here is another of the photos I took that day. This is looking back over the way we came up the cliff. I fell from the other side. I didn't get to shoot a photo showing the view from that side.

Yeah, it wasn't creepy at all while I was filming it. It did seem to get creepier though the more times I watched what my phone captured in the video.
Most of my trip was wonderful! I love going to my friend's house, Shaggin. She is a great friend and I just love her mom and her two kids!
I didn't have nearly as much fun after we reached the top of the waterfall, though. A bee stung me, causing me to jump and land on loose gravel at the edge of the cliff. The gravel rolled under my shoes and I slid right over the side of the cliff... Falling over the side of the cliff wasn't bad... I landed in water and mud, so wasn't hurt from that. We did find out very quickly that I am allergic to bee stings, though. I started swelling up and had large purple blisters start forming on my skin... I was glad I had an epi-pen in my car or I wouldn't have made it back from that trip.
