How do you know that your children appreciate you?

It isn't like they just come right out and tell you to your face. My daughter knows that she can talk to me about anything and when she needs to talk I will listen without judgement. Though she never told me this personally, I was looking through FaceBook a few evenings ago, after having a long chat with my daughter who needed to talk. She posted a status for the whole world to see. It said;
"My mom is such a wise woman. I love her very much!"
Let me tell you my heart warmed to the core upon reading that. It was the best "gift" my daughter could ever have given me. I will never again be in doubt of my children's appreciation of me.

It was certainly a surprise. My daughter is not one to be so sentimental.

@Starmaiden Once in a while, kids truly appreciate their parents.

Thanks Dianne. Considering all that we went through in the past, this left me speechless.

How nice. My kids show me all the time. My grandson came upstairs and asked me if I was okay and what that noise was I made earlier. He wanted to know I was okay.

I like to think I've earned it. She's a good kid, just going through difficult times right now.

My kids are both adult. We have good conversations, but they tend to be by my own initiative. My daughter in law is much more demonstrative. I love them all, and they do give me the "Love you Mama" a lot. Extremely sweet that she posted this status though.

That is very nice to know! Yes, most of the times children don't express themselves to their parents and say that they love or care for them, though they invariably love them!
Thanks to the social media which has given chance to these children to express themselves to the whole World including the parents that they are proud of their parents!
Congratulations on getting such a wonderful 'Gift' from your loving daughter ! Please remember children love us but they at the same time take us for granted, that is why they often don't bother to ackowledge us about their love!
This I am telling from my personal experience that I could never tell my father, how much I loved him, which I deeply regret and repent as it is too late for me now as he already left for his heavenly abode a decade back!

@Starmaiden , Today having learnt a lesson I always make a point to appreciate the people and express my love when they deserve them , before it becomes too late!

I find in my generation, (which was a long time ago), we did not tell our parents how we felt toward them much. The kids now a days are always expressing their feelings and I think it is because of the way we were raised and not expressing ourselves. My grandsons always tell me they love me even now at 18 and 22 years old.

Her and I went through a rough patch a decade ago and I thought she would never forgive me. But it all worked out in the end.

That is so awesome. I remember the day I bought a precious gift for my mother she was so excited that she called me to kneel before her and then she blessed me. I think parent find it awesome when their children appreciate them.

That is a lovely thing that your daughter said. Yes, that is the best gift that you could have been given from her. My disabled son has many medical appointments that I support him with. We went to one on Thursday last week and it was late in the school day so I had to take my daughter. I love my two children and feel that they totally appreciate me.

Awww, that was so sweet of your daughter. My daughters can be quite outspoken and tell me every now and again that they love me. I'm thankful that they do because it keeps me sane most days.
