Life is too short to..... (fill in the gap)

MyLotter @hereandthere wrote about buying toilet paper on special. I am always on the lookout for specials but it doesn’t include toilet paper. I have worked out which brand suits us the best and now I don’t deviate from that brand. I think life is too short to use crappy toilet paper (pardon the pun). We have a friend that is always quoting ‘Life’s too short to drink cheap wine’. By cheap, they are assuming the wine isn’t of good quality but ‘cheap’ and ‘good quality’ aren’t always mutually exclusive. So do you have a product of which you always prefer and always buy a particular brand? You’d rather pay more and get what you want/like? To make it easy, you could just complete the sentence: ‘Life is too short …..’ The photo has no relation to the post.

I also do not deviate from the brand of toilet paper we have chosen, but it is for sale at 50% twice a year, I buy enough to cover the 6 months. There are several products that I only buy from a specific brand (as an example coffee, flour, butter), I always check when our grocery store put those items on "special sale". I never paid my coffee the full price.

I have actually an espresso coffee from Switzerland that I found in a discount shop. "Café Royal". I buy only pure arabica, but to tell the truth this one is not very good. For flour, I have never noticed a difference between them for the same quality, I buy the cheapest flour and sugar that I find, whatever the brand.

@topffer I also buy espresso coffee from "Chicco d'Oro" a Swiss company that roasts coffee 3 km from home (when the winds blow I can smell it ). I only buy pure arabica, I cannot stand the taste of robusta. As for flour, should you make tortellini at home you would notice the difference. I buy from a local mill, fresh flour is important, so your tortellini do not break while you boil them. French flour was good, 0 for pasta and bread, double 0 for pastries.

@judyev Good quality toilet paper is a sound investment. No more of the grease proof paper we got in school. I would never buy cheap coffee.

That's one lazy tree! I try to find the best products that give me satisfaction and stick to that. I get too frustrated with inferior products.

I like the picture. Looks like the tree "rolled with the punches" and decided to be a bush. Good attitude.

@TheHorse @suni51 The tree is in a very windy area and all the trees there lean away from the wind. This one is older and is now on the ground.

@JudyEv I would love to visit Perth soon although Canberra is as windy as WA but we get more trees broken or floored by thunderstorms and lightning strikes here!

I disagree, the photo is perfect for the post. Life is too short for the tree to stand upright. Looks like it wanted to rest. Where did you take it? It put a smile on my face. Life is too short to worry about what you can't change.

@JudyEv I've seen what wind can do to young trees and the shapes they get, but this one takes the cake.

The tree is a tourist's favourite near Greenough which has tremendous winds most of the time. Many of the trees there have incredible leans on them.

I don't buy cheap coffee. I stick to the brands I know that I like. I once bought coffee in a discount supermarket. I had never heard of that brand, but it was really cheap and I decided to give it a chance. It tasted horrible. I tried to add some milk (I usually drink black coffee) but that didn't help at all. I threw away the rest of coffee, I simply couldn't drink it.

@JudyEv I think that many people stick to the coffee they know. I drink more than one brand, but I usually stick to two or three different brands that I like. I prefer to pay a bit more. It is better than buying coffee that I won't be able to drink.

Life is too short to learn. we learn from everything that comes across. This picture also says that we cant stand upright with all the egos and ill wills in our mind. Life is to give yourself to others. The best caption I can think of is 'Living down to Earth.'

I am just too set in ways when it comes to frugality. And I am rarely brand loyal...so...not sure what would be on my list. I'm a Ford guy, so I always drive Fords. But I still don't have the King Ranch I want in my driveway. As for toilet paper in general, I use very cheap stuff. Seems to work just fine despite the occasional, err uh, itch.

@porwest Reds have higher insurance rates? That's interesting. We have dozens of Fords in Australia too. There used to be a saying ' If you can't afford a Dodge, dodge a Ford.' But they are very popular here.

Life is short indeed. But i dont think thats the end of mankind. From time to time, my wife and i indulge ourselves in luxury. Small things like eating in fine resto and massage parlor, watch movies and buy expensicve foods that taste really good.
