The major part of our Christmas lunch was fresh seafood and shellfish We ate it in stages, one sort at a time.
The three of us didn't take long to devour the oysters. All that is left now is the empty shells. We just ate them as they were, raw, straight from the shell.
I can hear the non-seafood lovers groaning, but for us, used to fresh seafood and shellfish, they were a delicious treat. Probably the fact we only indulge like this at Christmas adds to our enjoyment.
Do you enjoy fresh raw oysters?

@just4him yes they are expensive here now too. Interesting read East Coast as the ones we eat are East Coast. The others are from the Nelson region in Queen Charlotte Sounds at the top of the South Island and the best are from Bluff at the bottom of the South Island.

No, not raw but I do like fried oysters. We only eat them a few months of the year.

NO sorry I do not think I would like them. They are a thing of much ridicule here in the UK usually around the first person ever to have eaten them and his/her thoughts about why they would eat something like that! (But in much cruder terminology!

I never had them but I would love to try maybe not raw though. We are far off from the sea

I am not sure if I will like raw seafood. But seafood cooked is my favourite.

I do enjoy fresh raw oysters. I only get the chance to have them occasionally so they are always a treat for me too.
