Most people I know either love or hate sandwiches, just because the general concept of a sandwich is along the lines of cold cut sandwiches, made of cold luncheon meat, cold tomato & lettuce, mayo and pickles on soft lunch bread. I like cold sandwiches best and one of my favorites is ham & cheese on rye. I like to have a ham & American cheese with mayo on white bread, salt & pepper and on the side, a cold glass of ice tea with sugar and either spring onions or radishes, but when I go all out and have a ham & cheese sandwich with chips and dip, I usually over do it and often have a glass of milk. For those who do like cold sandwiches, what kinds do you like best and do you ever prefer a hot sandwich, for instance, hot tuna melt or chicken fried steak sandwich? If you do eat either a hot or a cold sandwich is it usually one you made yourself or are you the kind of sandwich eater who prefers to order it from the deli?
A homemade olive salad is spread on fresh bread which is then layered with salami, ham, mortadella, mozzarella and Provolone. Great sandwich, anyone?! Note: Use round bread loaves for real muffuletta.

I have had a few Boca burgers, I think that is what they call the ones from tofu, soy. Not exactly sure but then I have seen a person make a burger using beans. Imagine all the possibilities.

@anya12adwi , I wonder if there is a particular food that is becoming more scarce in the area you are living, due to climate in your area?

@lookatdesktop Yes!! In India you can see many types of vegetarian burgers, pizzas and sandwiches!! Here atleast 35% of citizens are vegetarians! And that too, those who are non-vegetarians, most of them donot consume meat on specific days!!

Thank you Courage. You can still buy a loaf of sunbeam bread on certain days of the week, from the Dollar Tree, in Dallas, Texas, for only a dollar a loaf, until they run out of stock. Whereas, the local Kroger store charges 3 or more times the price per loaf of that particular brand of bread. And if you can shop at an Aldi market, the produce at that store is priced within my budget.

@Courage7 , Well since they raised the payments for those on social security who also receive food stamps, the food stamps have been cut to balance things out so that way nobody is a winner. It is like having a choice of a little more money each month but a little less food to eat. So you end up spending social security earnings on food. It seems a bit off in my opinion. Not fair? Yea. that's what I meant. It is a bit like taking away the potatoes on your plate and substituting it with a money off coupon.

I like to make them myself except when I go to Subway. I use a good grain and nut bread, some deli meat, tomato, provolone, lettuce and pickles.

Do you like vinnegarette instead of creamy mayo? I need to get some basic listing of the topings they put on them so I can compose my next sandwich, if and when I order one there at Subway. I go in there, thinking I know what I want but feel like the line is making me hurry and I can't think about all the choices and so I end up with a below par sandwich that is either too dry, not enough veggies, or not enough meat or a clash with the condiments because I figure I am just not an expert at ordering one. Once I asked the Subway sandwich lady to make me one that she actually liked and it was well made and I actually enjoyed it.

@lookatdesktop It depends on how I want to build my sandwich. I like a little bit of mayo but sometimes I don't add anything and let the flavors on the fillings come through.

Do you like simple sandwiches or do you like the Dagwood style? I am a simple sandwich guy but when my wife makes them she likes to add lots of veggies and that makes them more filling and nutritious, but I am too lazy to bother.

@Hannihar , Yea, simple but filling. I seldom have time to finish making it before I just start eating it. I don't bother taking snaps of it to post here at myLot. I Made a ham and cheese melt in a big buttermilk Grands biscuit and sent it to Pixabay but they didn't want it so I figured I can at least post it here one day when I locate it.

@Happy2BeMe , Well, since I generally like a tomato sandwich or banana, it's either tomato with mayo or banana with peanut butter. Mustard goes well on fried bologna and also on ham & cheese I think, and sometimes I go for a mustard burger instead of mayo but you really have to specify mustard when ordering a burger from take out.

I like to make them myself...and I like both, just depends on my mood. Usually I like the cheese to be melted, so I will make a hot sandwich, although I enjoy cold sandwiches as well.

The melted cheese goes well on such sandwiches as roast beef. cheddar cheese melted on top of rolled roast beef is fantastic.

Subway sandwiches have a popular appeal and even the ones that are basically made like the poor boy, can be bought under 5 bucks for a full length sandwich with plenty of meat, cheese and lettuce at lots of the deli departments of Walmart stores and other major grocery retailers.

Now that it is winter, do you like to make roast beef? They really make a great bbq smoked brisket sandwich at the Sonny Bryan's smokehouse.

I went to a Subway once about a year or so ago and the bread was stale and crumbly. I have not gone back since. But that doesn't mean Subways all over the planet have a problem keeping fresh bread on hand.

I don't buy cold cuts so, if we get sandwiches, it is subs from the grocery store. I usually get roast beef and provolone with lettuce, onion, salt, pepper, and oil/vinegar. My husband goes for the Italian sub with lettuce, onion, salt, pepper, and oil/vinegar. This is rare, though, because we usually just go out for lunch at our usual hangout.

Do you have a favorite bread? For instance, a cucumber sandwich would go well on soft white bread but ham & cheese on rye. I like roast beef on Brooklyn rye, sometimes.

I like both hot and cold food depending on what it is. The only hot sandwich I will make for myself is either a bacon roll or a fried egg roll. My favourite cold sandwich is with marmalade. We rarely buy sandwiches from any kind of store

I love egg rolls. I don't eat them often. I mostly either make my own sandwiches and one in particular is the basic Bacon, Lettuce & tomato. But only on Oat Nut bread. Toasted.
