I do not remember what it was about. So, does it mean that PTSD is anyone that suffered some kind of trauma, is that correct. Could it not last forever and not only soldiers coming back from war that suffer from it. I do not know much about it and I know someone would suggest to do research but I would like to know if it is considered someone that suffered some kind of trauma to have it. Is that true? How long does it last?

Ah yes - PTSD is caused by going through a trauma of some sort. It comes in all different variations. It can last for months, years, or for lifetimes, but happily there are therapy options available.

Thanks Faye but I did not have that. That is one thing I can cross off my list.

Right now it depends on the weather here for me because I wanted to go out tomorrow to see if can get answers for me but if snow I will not be going out and have to get stuff done here today if we get snow. Also I have to make a call and if snow not sure if can get a hold of the person.

@Hannihar - Hanni, I was the one who mentioned that you could have some PTSD from the experience you had when you were flooded and lost your home. Even though you now have a place to live, you said you dream sometimes about being flooded again. Having troubling dreams about a traumatic event in your life is one common symptom of PTSD. That is why I thought you might have it. To be fair, many people have had bad experiences which cause them to have bad dreams, or worry about being in certain situations. There are a lot of people with PTSD, not just soldiers.

That happened a long time ago while living in the States. I have had things happen here but no PTSD. That is one thing I am not worrying about. Right now the weather and my health is what I worry about and getting it taken care of.

Some people develop PTSD after a trauma, but not everyone. It can happen after war, crime, accidents etc. I have met one person who had it. He developed it after someone tried to kill him. He survived, but the experience had long term consequences for him.

@Hannihar He is doing much better now, but he needed long term therapy afterwards. Even in a relatively safe country like my own bad things happen.

I can see why he would need long term therapy. What he went through was terrible and so glad he is doing better.

In the case of my uncle it lasted for a long long time.
I am not sure about others as one I know came back just fine but others not so much.

With my Uncle he was rescuing a very young girl and the bomb fell right by them and well the rest is too awful to mention.
He was alive still but the little girl had been hit by the bomb as well as others.
He did have a daughter of his own years later and he treasured her with all his heart.
But he never forgot the little girl he was taking to safety ever.
Hope you are feeling much better now.

Thanks for sharing that. It is hard. I do not have it but have other health issues that are dragging on.

Thank you for sharing that and I am sure it was very hard to share. I understand and he was a real hero and I can see why he never forgot the little girl and how he treasured his own daughter.

Never heard of PTSD. Maybe I can do some research on it.
