I do. Jackfruit is one of my favorite fruits. I bought a kilo of sliced ripe jackfruit last weekend . I ate it when I got home in my parent’s house. But nobody but me , ate it. Though, 13 year old niece and my youngest sister like it and I let them consume it all/ My nephew said, it makes his tummy ache. My 2 other sisters don’t like it that way, because they said it could make their tummies ache. They only like the candied jackfruits being one of the ingredients of a halo-halo (picture is that with identification of ingredients) I love it , in whatever way it was made. What about you?

Oh so there are also jackfruits in Paris. I thought it is only indigenous in tropical countries like the Philippines.

@SIMPLYD I think that those sold in Paris were imported and brought there by aircraft, because they were extremely expensive. There are many rich people from Asia who live in Paris, they import a lot of products from around the world.

@kepweng As I said to Symplyd jackfruit is not available here. Anyway I would not make a jackfruit cake as well as do not do a mango or a kiwi cake.

@mayka123 When you see one being peddled when you go to an Asian country or here in the Philippines at a time like this, you must try to buy and taste it. I am sure you will like it so much.

That's nice that you love it too like me. Do they cook it in syrup also? Do you also have your version there of our halo-halo like that in the picture which points out what are its ingredients? Here summer is a month away already. But we already have it.

That's because it is only indigenous in tropical countries like Philippines. Though, maybe you have in supermarkets the exported canned ones in syrup. That too is delicious. Though, just eat the fruit itself.

Yes, some are offended by its smell, they say. But I also like the smell. So delicious. When you say raw, does it mean the ripe yellow flesh, not cooked in syrup? It is delicious as it is - ripe and yellow.

We cook the raw one in coconut milk, shrimp paste and with crabs. Put some sliced chili and voila , you have a delicious viand. Yes, i also prefer it not in syrup-just as it is because it is already sweet.

I've had jackfruit in a mix with kiwi, grapes, etc the store sells but buying the fruit by itself is very expensive here. I do like it.

So, it is imported from Asian countries I think. Indeed, it is expensive if you buy the whole fruits because usually it is so big. Here, you can buy by the kilo, so anyone wanting to eat some can just buy a half kilo or a kilo.

I love it too except when I have my monthly period... =) I think it also makes my tummy ache when I don't chew it properly. I experienced that when I was younger. I think it's hard to digest this fruit so we really have to chew it. My young niece tasted it once and we asked her how was it. She said, "masyadong masarap". (too delicious) I think she didn't like it that much because of the strong smell and taste.

Yes, I think one has to chew it well so it could be digested and not cause one a stomachache. Your young niece is funny. He says things reversely. Some people indeed find its odor not nice. Though, I love the smell.

I don't know how it becomes a substitute for meat. Although, we cook the raw fruit and the jackfruits flesh in coconut milk , shrimp paste and shrimp or crabs, and it is so delicious as viand. Yes, you should try it. Although some people don't like the strong smell. But for me, it smells delicious. Its smell cannot be hidden.

Yes, I do Ms. Reb. I can consume a big slice of the whole fruit. I remember the time when we have to go to farm, although it's in the most hinterland part of our village I should go together with my parents in weekends because my purpose there is to eat only langka and the sweetest buko there.

Oh wow! I envy you for having jackfruit tree in your parents yard. We used to have buko or coconut trees on the side of our front yard and we once in a while let the helper get some buko. However, it is dangerous for us children running around in the yard, because a coconut can fall over our heads, so they were all removed.
