What was your first pet?

My first pet as a child was a mouse but my family have also had dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, tropical fish, budgies, parrots and probably others I've forgotten about!
We haven't had all of these at the same time but there has been some overlap of various pets. Overall I think my favourite pets have been dogs.

We had this dog as our first pet but it was not a friendly dog compared to what we had in later years.

@ThreeTeddies Preiti our current pet is a well behaved, dignified lady but has issues with her health. She will soon be 12 years old.

@allknowing Most of our dogs were fine but there was once which had a nasty streak in her. We had to be careful around her

@LowRiderX Yes, that counts. I used to breed tropical fish and have had many aquaria over the years.

Not sure if it was a Dog or a Cat. Just remember having a lot of Cats when I was in High School as well as a Dog, Pig, Rabbits. My favorite will always be a Dog too

We had a beagle when I was about 7. We didn't have him too long though..as he had an unfortunate habit of lying down on the highway. My parents should have cared about that..we were too young to know how to keep him off.

Our family's first pet was a black cat that "came with" the house I live in now. Since then we have had two hamsters, a mouse (all three while we still had the cat), and over the years four dogs, the fourth being the one I have now.

\When I was little we had cats and dogs but my mother said she was allergic so they stayed in our garage or basement and so they ran away. Here in Israel my first pet was a dog named Carli that was a lab-husky. She was such a great and sweet dog. I loved her so much.

My father liked to have birds, of many different kinds, especially one that is the emblematic bird of Venezuela called Turpial. But there were also several dogs in my parents' house, the first one I met was a good dog that we called with the name of a bird: the toucan.

My very first pet was actually a gecko. I always catch insect food for him/her I actually doesn't know if my gecko was a boy or a girl.
