I am just back from my elder daughter's school. Today most of the time went for prize and appreciation for the children.
I was proud when her name was called for so many times. Each time I said a silent prayer thanking God and asking for more blessings for her.
Only a little time was left and so the Principal could only address the crowd with a welcome speech. Since it is a working day for many parents, the program could not be continued for long. The rest of the orientation program has been shifted to coming Wednesday next week. So that will keep another Wednesday busy for me.
Now I am at home. Will do some online stuff for an hour, make lunch, eat and go for Parents Teachers Meet for my younger one.
So it has been a great start of the day. It feels good when your child gets recognition for his/her effort.
So how is it at your end??

I missed this post somehow. So glad to hear about your daughter's awards and prizes!
I know that feeling very well, myself. Both our sons made us proud with their honors, trophies, and achievements over the years, right through law school for our eldest. It can make a parent's heart explode with joy!

Thank you so much for your appreciation and kind words. I felt good as I could really bank on my conviction of a slow parenting and bringing up my children in a way that they take charge of their own learning. Many doubted it but I had a trust.

Thank You. It definitely makes me feel good that my conviction for slow parenting worked. And I am glad that she developed holistically.

Thank you. No I have not. It might take another two months. The stretch has become longer. My husband drove me today and I wonder how he could cross it with a big car. My car is small and he teasingly calls it a toy car.

I totally disagree. My younger one goes to Waldorf school and things are totally different in these schools. It is very much like a community and the focus is more on humanitarian values more than academic and parents are equal partner in deciding curriculum.
Elder one though in a mainstream school is in a school which is very much child oriented. We as parents consciously took such decision for such alternative school. They are not like pressure cooker as other school.
I am also a Montessori adult, special educator and counselor. Trust me parents look forward to meet me and also for home visits. My daughters also wait for these home visits by teachers in vacation.

@Sheali I can understand. I am a Parent and a teacher and I have been to both sides of tables in a meeting. Most of regular schools have a monotonous meetings. But Waldorf meetings are twice as month where parents read and exchange together with teachers. So that is interesting.

@arunima25 Everyone has different views..
Actually I attend such meetings every year and these are my views..
I love teaching though, and I try to make the classes interesting
Here such meetings are for discussing rules.. We separately talk to parents..

Nice to know that your elder one got appreciation and prize. Heartiest congratulations. Credit goes to you also because her performance depends how you have been bringing her up and how you encourage her to perform better. Hope she would continue to perform in a better way.

We follow the slow parenting mantra and the rule is no reward and no punishment. Though it needed a lot of patience and time,we are glad we stick to our convictions. Most of our teaching has been through living what we need to pass on.
Thanks for your appreciation and blessings. Amen!

I have not gone out of the way to make her be responsible. I believed in slow parenting and tried to influence more by living things that I wanted to teach. I do not believe in preaching. Thank you for your kind words.
