What book did you read as a kid that you would like to re read?

Talking yesterday about tree hollows made me think of a book, I really enjoyed as a kid, My Side of the Mountain, about a young boy living on his own in the wild, and the survival skills he needed to use. I suddenly have a burning desire to re read that book. They even made a movie of it, that I saw at the drive in one time. Perhaps, I will check with the library to see if they have a copy. I need to check with them anyway, on the Overdrive/Libby app thing anyway, as the books that should be available for me,,now, are not popping up on kindle. It used to not be a problem. Any books you read as kid you want to re read?

An Italian fairy tale book "Pinocchio", I think it would be interesting read with "adult eyes".

I'd like to reread a Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. When I was a kid, it was a bit beyond me.

We have similar good tastes as I picked that one also as a first choice. Did it go like this: It is a far better thing I do than I have ever done before.

@1hopefulman Yes, that quote is from A Tale of Two Cities, too. You almost have it down perfectly. It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done..... I remember the first sentences which was something like - It was the best of times. It was the worst of times, It was the age of wisdom. It was the age of foolishness........

The diary of Anne Frank. It was very sad because it was a true story about a Jewish family hiding out in Nazi Germany.

We read that as a play in middle school. Very sad, the only one that survived the war was her father.

I really liked this one adventure series of two boys who's father owned a zoo, and they were always going around the world on different adventures to get various animals. They once had to survive on an island with no fresh water. I can't remember the name of the series though.

I love this question! And it's difficult for me to answer with a single title... I'm going with The Secret Garden, a classic. It had a bit of everything - the story was very moving, there was mystery as well and the English countryside setting really did it for me. I have very fond memories of that book, and your post reminded that I need to give it a second read now, as an adult.
