I need a life! I need a fun life.Yeah, I need fun. Till I get one of those lives I will work the homestead and pray to get rich from it one day soon.
Before getting up from morning coffee I wrote up a blog about the hoard and posted that.
I boiled up the poke salad and let it rest.
I started a load of laundry and went out to mow grass. I came in to check on Tony and switched the clothes to the dryer, went back to mowing. I mowed grass for a couple hours and then ran out of gas.
Since I had to get dressed to go get gas I decided to not mow the rest and get busy with other things, like canning.
I took a break and mylotted while I waited for the poke salad to process.
while the canner was cooling I fried up a mess of wings outside on the gas grill and made a salad.
After dinner I watered the plants n the deck, then I made my first batch of rose petal jelly.
I changed Tonys bed sheets and now I am watching some old western he has on, with Steve McQueen called wanted dead or alive.
How has your day been?

Girl, the wife and I are CHEAP. Well, I am cheap. But we still manage to travel a lot to all kinds of places. I save and save and save, but as a result of all of my frugality, I am afforded quite a lot of ability to SPEND. That's what it is all about. You only live once. Live it up. Save on the toilet paper, but go hog wild on the FUN stuff. I am starting to think we might just do one weekend every three months in Florida. It'll cost a bit with flights and rental car...but what the hell else am I going to do with all of this freaking money we have?

Life is what you make of it or so they say. To me what you do for a living sounds interesting and challenging ..... I sat behind a desk either keypunching or verifying documents, it was always repetitious and boring.
Thank heavens I'm retired, now I can be bored at home with my kritters if I want.

It sure beats verifying documents whose only differences are the people's names that initiated those transactions @andriaperry

I read a book last week that reminded me of you a bit (except for the children and disasters). It was the memoir of an army wife who was widowed when she had four young children. As the husband was about to be sent to Korea (1950), they were told their preteen mentally challenged son could no longer live on the army base because he was impossible to keep under 24-hour watch and would annoy the neighbors, among other things when he wandered. So they bought a farm of 35 acres with a farmhouse and barn that were almost falling down. They left the mentally disabled son with her mother and she took the others to the farm to get it ready to move into. It needed lots of work. Her father, brother and a close family friend gave their weekends to help. Before they could get settled, her husband was killed. Then she discovered she was pregnant. The old family friend got a compassionate discharge from the paratroopers and moved in to help her get the place livable. He tore out walls, fixed plumbing, and seemed to know how to do about anything. He had been a very close friend of her husband's and was like a family member. But that's another story. Next time you feel overwhelmed, you ought to read this book. It's called Rough Road Home by Melissa Mather.
My day was also busy. I turned 76 today. And I wore myself out in the yard.

@andriaperry My palpitations are under control again. My doctor decreased my thyroid medication.. The blood test had shown the levels had gone too high and that was making the heart meds work differently than they should. All has been well since the adjustment.

@andriaperry I'm cobbling together as much as I can from our costume shop and local thrift stores. But our director has some very specific looks in mind...which makes things challenging.

I worked in my mini cabin cleaning the kitchen from construction and did some prepping the bathroom walls that need painted. I hurt myself of course doing what I'm not supposed to so took an Aleve, drove to our tiny town for an iced drink and took it easy the rest of the day. You been so busy. I'm pooped reading about all you do.

@andriaperry It's livable now and I can do the extra needs like backsplash etc while in there. I'm taking things down daily but waiting to do the final move in when I return from my trip to MS in May since my cat needs to be taken care of and being in a new place alone may freak her out until she is used to it. My daughter is due any day and will be easier for her or my son-in-law to just go downstairs to where I am right now to feed her. I'll have all my things sans the bed in there before I leave May 21st and then take the bed when I get back. I need to get a rug, couch etc and hoping to get a new refrigerator Wednesday.

My day has not been as busy as yours, I cleaned houses with my daughter yesterday so today I am relaxing a little. Have mopped the floors, done laundry, watered my plants and scrubbed shower and cleaned bathroom. That is it for me until dinner time when I will make that.

I have slept a lot the last two days. Trying to figure out where this headache is coming from. I am calling it "stress", but not sure. I have never been diagnosed with migraines and the actual headache does not fit the description. None the less, I have been reading my natural product recipes and deciding to make my sunscreen and insect repellent provided I only work a couple of hours at school tomorrow. Just in case it is stress I will spray my pillows all with my lavender linen spray before bed. It should help.
